Got to love the ongoing (dis) respect on the Marshall board

After the loss there are multiple threads that include Ohio as subject matter and continue to act as if  the loss was given to us and an anomaly rather than own the fact that they have lost 3 straight.... and shockingly....they keep alluding to a Top 25 ranking they had envisioned.  From this one

Re: The season that will never be,,,Now Reply

Winning is everying and nothing else matters but didn't think we padded our schedule. As long as we play road games we are in no way big favorites. Doc is sick, he's gotta be. Instead of 4-0 and knocking on a top 25 ranking were a mid major with a 2-2 record with a loss to Ohio. Im not saying fire Doc either but he loses games against better teams and most all close games. I will say it again, if we had beaten ohio I thought we might beat VT two scores. How many times did we have the ball and up 7? How many.My prediction was decent.I don't think Maryland would have shut us out. lol

That poster has issues.  He may have had a stroke or something because he never posts full thoughts or even sentences.

We are 11 points from being 4-0.  We would for sure be getting top 25 votes.

Tell me what is wrong about that?

USA Today had us at #37 before losing to you.

I have to believe that they would not only be receiving votes but fairly close to an actual ranking if they were undefeated.

It's not that you're wrong. It's that what you said is exactly what Terd fans always say.....woulda coulda shoulda....second guess....if only.....woe is us.....we're so close yet so far away.....

Look, having grown up and lived in the Huntington area my entire life, I get it. You want to remember the good times and forget the bad. It took 22 years for you guys to go from the plane crash to a 1-AA national title. And for a decade, you guys had some really good times. And you want to relive those good times. That's natural.

But do you realize that next year, it will have been as long since that national title as it was from the plane crash to the national title? It isn't 1999 anymore. Living in the past does you no good.

You guys should seriously consider playing Springsteen's "Glory Days" on infinite loop in the Joan.

If OHIO were undefeated, we would be in the top 25.

Well, the old timers used to say "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts ........."

There is a reason coaches hate mid season ratings.  This all gets sorted at bowl time.  Amazing an Ohio fan talking about bowl season with expectation.

Monroe, reel me in, please.

Congratulations!  Someone had to post the stupidest remark ever on the internet--and you volunteered!

That W over miami--that was some fine football.  What high school are you playing next?

My dog Sam is pretty smart; he laughed at your '37' remark.  My other dog Duke is sweet but not very bright.  He chuckled.

What happened after you were mentioned at 37?  Nice losing streak.

So, then, the more that you lose to us, the higher you're ranked?!

Thanks for proving that you have to be stupid or they'll teach it to you at stupd cow.

Come on, Monroe, you are a little over-the-top with the Herd Hatred.  penn2moss was simply saying that they were high enough ranked that victories over Ohio and VT (both very close games) would have netted them a national ranking in the top 25.  That's a reasonable statement.  If we'd lost a cliffhanger to Louisville, there'd be guys on this board saying the same thing.   We got blown out by UL, so we are a little more sobered and are a little more careful in what we say.   Look at some of our posts after the Penn State win last year.  We were headed for the BCS Bowl, a top 15 ranking, etc.   Nothing wrong with Marshall fans looking at the glass half full rather than the glass half empty.  All that being said, Chuckie was a little bit ridiculous in his post-game column.  This stuff about them being so much more talented, etc., has been clearly exposed by others on this board for the crapola that it truly is.

Are you guys serious--the dude said that they are 11 points from being undefeated and mentioned a whiff at 37.

Yeah after two games, one of which was a blowout of the worst team (possibley ever) in college football (miami) and the other was a blowout against mighty Gardner-Webb.

And you think my retort was off the mark?????????????????????????????????

A rational viewpoint would be that the stupd cow dude is the one being extreme here.

After we beat Penn State at their place and started 7-0, it could be plausibly argued that we were top 25.  Espec because we achieved that.

Yes, we fell apart quickly.  But no one here got too high and mighty.  Thinking about being #15 was hopeful, but not crazy, when we were 7-0.  Then, when we tumbled, we all saw what we were objectively.  We didn't keep thinking that we were in fact 2op 25 material.

My retort was not out of line.
