It is so nice to go into a game, and not worry about whether or not we will win. Let's go Cats! Beat the 'Peay' out of the Governors!

I don't want to take any opponent lightly, but does AP do anything well? The stats vs. Tennessee and Vandy aren't super helpful.....but the numbers against UT-Chattanooga (a decent but not great FCS team) are pretty dreadful too. Out-rushed 270-116. Out-passed 142-94. They had a slight advantage in TOP, but that was mostly in the 2nd half after it was already a 4 TD game.

I'm thinking 2 scoring series for the starters and then go exclusively to reserve players. I'd love to see Tim Edmond with a couple TDs. We only "win" if we don't have any significant injuries and the younger players continue to gain experience, especially along the lines.

This is the kind of team we just can't overlook. Remember, Nicholls St got completely hammered by Oregon and La-Laf, but also beat WMU.  Peay hasn't shown they can do anything ... yet.  We need to make sure they keep that going.  Prep for them just like every other team, then take care of business early.

Being a Tennessee fan and having watched the entirety of Peay's opening game I can assure you we can definitely take this team lightly... I know there's an unwritten rule about people saying that, but I'm not sure you can comprehend how completely and totally under-manned Peay is until you've seen game footage of them from this year. I feel bad for them though, they've played a tough row of road games thus far. I hope the paychecks were generous.

O$U is playing 1AA Florida A&M Saturday (the battle of A&Ms) and I heard one O$U star complain that they're playing a 1AA team instead of a "national spotlight" game. I'm sure if one guy is complaining openly, others are complaining behind the scenes.  Made me think of the b-ballers who complain about the place they're playing or the team they're playing in the first round of the NCAA tourney; more often than not, they lose.  I'm sure O$U can win that game without trying.  But it's really a lousy attitude to have.  I'm glad our guys don't think that way.

This is Austin Peay for God's Sake!! (Brady Hoke voice).....But in all seriousness, we can't look over any team, even Austin Peay for reasons like Appy State over Michigan or Toledo over Michigan, or even Akron almost beating Michigan. We aren't the powerhouse team that Michigan is and they've lost to a couple teams that could easily lose to Austin Peay. Lets just bury them early and go from there.

Were any of you there for the Northeastern debacle?  I don't take anyone lightly.

Actually, I was also thinking about the 2008 VMI game.  Granted, VMI was better than Peay is, but they came in for homecoming and put a real scare into us.  They led 24-17 midway through the 2nd qtr before we shut them down and won 51-31.

With a 70% chance of rain all day, I expect our attendance figures to take a big hit.  I'm thinking a half-full stadium will be likely.  Uhg.

Wasn't VMI a triple-option team? Always a game changer!

Yes, and it seems like it was a strange variant of the triple option. God, that was a frustrating first half to that game.

Northeastern was a debacle, plain and simple.

I saw this story from the Clarksville paper about how they need more from their receivers, but it contained this interesting passage:

"The gameplan could be a little different against Ohio, since Cannon said the Bobcats haven’t shown a lot of press coverage in a loss to Louisville or wins over North Texas and Marshall. Johnson said the Govs plan to introduce some new blocking schemes and focus more on the running game this Saturday."

Our run D is a real strength, so I don't see much problem there.  And according to this story, they have a very young D line that has trouble stopping the run.  Our running game should really give them fits.  They also have a freshman making his first start in the secondary because of an injury to one of their starting CBs, who had five tackles and an INT last week.

Injury Update, per Arkley's blog:
Apparently Ian Wells is ready to go, as he's not on the injury list., but meanwhile a couple names get added, Center Lucas Powell, with an ankle, and Safety Aaron Macer, still out related to a concussion. With Powell and Smith out, that's the two top Centers. That means they could use Mike Curtis or Bubba WIlliams at Center, or alternatively Mike Lucas could slide over to center, and Nic Gibbons could play Right Guard. That's 5 offensive linemen out for this game (Johnson, Lechner, McGrath, Smith, and Powell).

With most of the starting offensive line gone, I hope so, but I'm not as confident as you are.

Yes, I was there, and I believe that was about the time Monroe invented the word "Knorred."   Though it might have been a year earlier after the 44-0 whipping by the Beefs.  Different decade, different time, different football galaxy.

Mr. Wells available is nice.  I will be lighting candles for the rest.  Wonder who is up for POW honors this week?

I could see one from each side of the line.  Ben Russell on D has been really solid this year and could have a monster game today.  Daz or Darius on offense.

Edmond might have a big game.  Russell would get big numbers if AP goes to the ground to shorten the game.

It looks like all the games are through ESPN3. They have an embedded player on the MAC-Sports website: http://www.mac-sports.com/ESPN3stream.aspx

Yeah, that has me curious - is the MAC site my passkey if I otherwise do not get ESPN3 because of ESPN and Time Warner's dickishness?

I used firstrow for the NT game (yes, we all know about pirating, but TWC deserves it) but for some reason we're getting ESPN3 through our TW internet service for games that aren't on real TV (don't tell them) so I'll try them first today.  Firstrow's a pain with all the porn and other stuff that opens up while the game's loading.

I can't use First Row - they relentlessly attack your PC with viruses, and since I have Norton, it's like having no protection at all.
