For some reason, no matter what soft drink I buy at Peden, it always ends up tasting like rum or whiskey.

+1. I stopped drinking soda and all caffeinated beverages about a year ago. Haven't missed them at all.

Hey, when I was at Marshall they served real Mountain Dew in the student section.  They say once you've tasted the "real thing" you'll never go back to the sugary, caffeinated substitute!

Good plan. It's bad for you is so many ways. The stuff is everywhere, though.

Indeed. My friends tease me because of my omnipresent water bottle.

As someone who gave up soda a while back (had a really nasty Dr. Pepper habit to break) , I occasionally indulge just as a treat, but I find that I don't really enjoy it as much I hope I'm going to. The quantity of sugar being sucked down in such a short time is enough to make someone have a seizure and my body simply doesn't have the sugar receptors working in overdrive like it used to. And of course, the poisonous artificial sweeteners are probably even worse for you. Water, coffee, beer, happiness.

I gave up soda (excepting the occassional tonic water diluted with lime juice and gin) after college. Bad for the teeth. And wasteline.

I've found that eating a lot of fruit in the morning prevents me from craving the sweetness of a soft drink in the afternoon.

I need to try that, perimeterpost. I really went the entire five years at OU without drinking pop. Beer, yes. Pop, no. I was made fun of for refilling my 2-liter with water all the time.

Now, I always seem to crave Coke Zero or the Dr Pepper TEN products.

I think I like the carbonation feel, so if you add some sparkling water to 100% juice, you can get the same effect without all the crap.

Not to mention the phosphoric acid. The body gets rid of excess phosphorus in the form of calcium phosphate. Guess where the calcium comes from?

I've moved to tea and/or coffee.

You guys are no fun.  Eat ice cream and drink the occasional root beer.

Also, eat ice cream.

What are you talking about? You just aren't reading the links completely. From OCF's last link:

"Men have different beverage consumption patterns," Tucker told the Times. "They drink more alcohol, and alcohol can be protective of bone in some ways."

So, the answer is clear. Always drink coke with rum, though ice cream might do it too, with the extra calcium. So, a rum and coke float? Might be interesting....

The question I have is: How does the rum flavored liquid get into the stadium?

No, for real. I thought you can't bring outside beverages. Are you sporting a hip flask?

Not that I'm looking for pointers or anything....

I have HEARD that hip flasks are too obvious, and that those seeking to get alcohol into the stadium need to pack the booze via smaller individually contained presealed bottles that are more easily concealed and not as noticeable when the usher asks you to open your jacket or bag at the gate, and which aren't an open-container violation should they notice because they are sealed by the manufacturer. I have also HEARD that your local liquor store probably sells exactly those kinds of small individually contained presealed bottles in packs of 10 or 20, usually on the shelf behind the register.

No first hand knowledge, of course. Just rumors.

I'm always amazed out how passionate people can be about Coke vs Pepsi.

Kids these days, what will they think of next? Society is going to hell in a hand basket. I'll be sure not to use this information to break any rules. Thanks for the heads up.

Coke.. I wish Peden had Coke.

Just like 'Kron is a pale imitation of a MAC football team - Pepsi is a pale imitation of the original - Coke. I friggin' hate that sugared down swill. They do spend a ton of $ at on premise venues/sponsorships - where I end up having to go with Dr, Pepper - because Pepsi sucks. OK - got that off my chest................

And how about some Green Gatorade? I bet they could sell a lot of Green Kool-Aid!

I agree, I either get Dr Pepper or water..

I hate stadiums/locations that sell Coke! I love my Dew and I'm likely single handedly supporting their Dew sales!!

Code Red Dew and Game Fuel Dew has ruined me.. I don't drink the regular Dew anymore..
