I see in the latest OBC email that the Department of Enjoyment Prevention (OU Parking Services) has changed the parking for RVs for the upcoming season.  They are now allowing only 10 RVs per game and they are all going to be parked up at The Ridges.

I have been considering purchasing an RV for the sole use of tailgating both home and away.  I guess that thought is gone now.  Who would want to park at The Ridges for a game?  This is a fantastic way to alienate many of the most loyal supporters of the program.

I really think it would be a wise use of resources to send the parking nazis to an away game at Ohio State or WVU on a weekend Ohio is not at home.  Maybe they could see how they could enhance the gameday experience instead of acting like the 20,000 people in town for the day are an enormous hassle.

Odd.  And I noticed over the weekend that there is fill being deposited in Tail Great Park in the low area by the bike path.  Naively, I thought that would be to accomodate MORE parking.

I saw that too and called the number listed to check into reserving one of the 10 spaces for Homecoming and to find out why the RVs are being banished to the North Green.  The lady who handles that won't be in till Friday so I left her a voicemail.  Can't wait to hear the reasoning behind this latest move.  And by the way, if you really want to get annoyed call parking services and listen to the greeting you get:  "Hello this is so and so with Ohio University Parking Services.  So that we can serve you better can you please give us your name and telephone number."  Don't believe it, call them.  740-593-1917.

I am from out of town & new to the OU Football experience.  Would appreciate some parking advice.  I don't have to park all that close, but I don't want to walk from Walmart either!  Thank you.

If you are a season ticket holder and Bobcat Club member (minimum $75) parking is included.  The more you donate the closer you can park.

Absolute insanity...not that I'd expect anything less from Parking Services. If I had an RV, I'd just pull the thing up and park at the Convo. What are they going to do, tow it??? Slap me with a fine and ask if I care!

They would probably just not let you in.

If you don't want to join the Bobcat Club, the parking/tailgating is probably best by Clippinger (science labs). Easy and scenic walk to Peden.

I just pulled out my 2013 - 2014 Bobcat Club brochure and on page 7 it shows RV parking in the lot just north of the baseball field (between the baseball field and central foods).   I wonder what happened to get it moved to the North Green and limited to 10 spots?

A while back an alum friend of mine called me about RV parking for homecoming. He would be travelling in from Fayettville area (New River Gorge) WV.  I called the office (I think the ticket office) and they could not give me a straight up answer other than "not until game day, somewhere near the Convo". God forbid he may want to recruit a load of ticket buyers to come along!

Apparently we don't need a new stadium - we need a new parking lot(s)..................

Or more just plain "Git R Done" types.................

We have been RVing at all home games for the past eight years. Have always enjoyed the environment to bring the RV. Now I hear things are going to change, so I called the number as previously posted to inquire about the changes. As the lady was telling me of all of the changes, her final statement was that they were really discouraging RV's to come in to tailgate. I said what a shame that this is even being said, let alone being done by limiting or eliminating spots to park. My comment to her was OU will be the only school in the country that is discouraging RV's to tailgate at games. What a shame this is being done. Rather than shutting them out, they should be "creative" and look for sites near campus to park RV's. But if they don't want you there, they will proceed with their present plan.

Why in the world would you want to alienate RV's from the tailgating experience? I would think that they would want to encourage this. Someone with some actual knowledge of the game day experience should be running parking services. I can understand if parking is limited, and they have to move RV's to a different lot, but wow, if she actually said that she needs to find another job, seriously!

Absolute insanity.  I don't even use it but it has always made me p^%$#@ to see half of the Tail Great Park (HA!) roped off for corn hole boards and various other sponsor events.  It's as if there is a concerted effort underway to stifle the growth of spontaneous pre and post game get togethers at home games

And don't even get me started on the whole G&W/OBC club scrap.  My Bobcat Club contact is well aware of my feelings on the disaster that was the "hospitality" are sponsored by Ohio Athletics and the OBC versus the popularity of the old school G&W tent.

And on other threads people are throwing around stadium expansion and moving to big 5 conferences, yet with small time thinking like this, OHIO Athletics will continue to Find its self right where we are.

And all the talk on the other thread about growing our base from the 3C's. But with practices like this how are we going to grow a fan base from outside the area?

I wonder if the new policy has anything to do with construction of the Multipurpose Center and the new dorms going up at the former Wolfe St. Apartment site?  Because of construction, is there limited room and transportation access in that area?  I honestly don't know so that's why I ask.

Construction has eliminated a substantial number of paid and bobcat club parking spaces but that still doesn't make sense in terms of banishing RV's to the north green.  And speaking of construction, according to a source who is not authorized to speak on the subject (I haven't seen a line item budget for the new indoor facility) that over $20,000 is coming out of that budget to pay for parking spaces that the construction is taking up while they build the building.

This kind of stuff can totally undo all the good work that people within the walls of Peden and The Convo are doing to make gameday a great experience.  What can be done, and who can be notified that this is not a fan and alumni friendly idea?

Given that it is across departments, the only person I imagine would have the sway and interest in making a change would be McDavis. This is a shame, and shows a real lack of creativity in finding a solution.
