Is it that time, to look into coaching changes? Solich was clearly out coached, play calling was predictable as always. To lose to a 2-4 central Michigan team (now 3-4) to struggle with North Texas, it's unacceptable. Changes need to be made, not saying fire Solich, but his staff needs to be improved.

By that logic, Northern Illinois' coach should be fired because they struggled with a much worse team than North Texas. Ohio State should have fired Urban Meyer or someone on his staff because they almost lost to Purdue last year. Saban should be fired because Alabama got upset last year by Texas A&M. I think A&M was about as much of an underdog as Central Michigan was.

Get a life. Solich has done more for the OHIO program than any coach in our history. Let's go back to winning 2 games per season like we did for nearly 20 years. Maybe that would make you feel better. We lost a F#%$@ game. Get over it and move on.

It's great that he's done a lot of good here. But when play calling is predictable, it's gonna be 2 win seasons again.

Hope post #3 is better than 1 or 2.

2 win seasons? We've won 4 already .. out of six.  67% isn't too shabby. So every team that is upset should fire their coach?

I don't think that anyone should be fired now.

But, also, do not equate a loss with a narrow victory.  (NIU narrow over NT is worlds away from us losing at home on homecoming to CMU.)  If we'd've won even by a single point yesterday, the tenor here would be a lot different (some grousing but not the fairly large number of us who are quite angry).

One loss to a team that everyone thought we would beat and all the experts crawl out of the woodwork.  A word of wisdom, be really careful of what you wish for.  Frank Solich is not a problem for this program.  If Frank wasn't here there wouldn't be that shiny thing being built behind the student stands.  This loss hurt but let's be rational.

We're really starting to sound like Marshall and I can't begin to tell you how stupid that makes us look.

The last Ohio football coach with a winning career record at Ohio was Bill Hess, who took over the program in 1958.

Frank's legacy at Ohio was secured with the bowl wins. The guy has won 7 games a year over 9 seasons and brought the Cats to 5 bowl games. This program had almost zero tradition before Frank Solich. While the performance should be better the intangible of having a guy here a decade who can tell recruits he's taken the team to 5 bowl games outweighs the yearly inexplicable losses. I'm afraid the window for Solich to win a MAC Championship though is starting to close. 2011 was probably Solich's most complete team with a young T2, LaVon and Jordan Thompson on offense and he should have held on to win at Detroit. The program today is mostly riding on remaining leadership from the 2011 team with a few young standouts mixed it. There are guys in the receiving core that have been catching balls for Ohio for 5 years going back to the heyday of 2009 when suddenly Ohio was loaded with receivers. Players who decided to come to Ohio after the 2006 MAC East title. They won a lot of big November games for Ohio that were the difference in those bowl eligible seasons. Frank desperately needs to win the East this year or else its going to be viewed as in decline.

I think Jtaylor must be part of that group at OSU that got rid of the hated "Ole 9-3 Earle."

Hmmm.  Earl Bruce could be a solid comparison maybe.  Although Earl didn't have to turn around the worst program in the history of American football.

During coach Solich's time under Dr. Osborne at Nebraska, when they took over from Devaney it took ten seasons before their first one loss season and twenty-two before the first undefeated season.

I remember losing at home to Tenn-Martin many years ago so we need to appreciate having Frank. Believe me it could be a hell of a lot worse and I don't want to return to those days.

You have a very poor memory, because OHIO has only played Tenn-Martin one time, and that was a Frank's team that won the 1st MAC Title in 2006. Not to mention we won handily.

Let's don't even mention Coach Solich in the same breath  as old "9-3 earl bruce."    Bruce stunk and still sinks.  All Ohio and  MAC fans need to remember is  that he calls and refers to MAC teams as high school teams who are just looking for a pay check.

As for Coach Solich, I hope he's here to stay for quite a few more years.  Most probably,  every coach that ever coached can be criticised and questioned for a bad game or calls.  I question why the punt was not fair caught or even  fielded.  But I still believe in Travis Carie and Coach Solich and am real glad we have both.

You are thinking of 2003 when we opened at home against Division 1 AA Northeastern and got shut out 31-0. That was during the Knorr era. That one really stung.
