The failed two and the dropped punt were disappointing but those plays did not cause the loss of the game. It was the unispired slow start of the offense in the first half that put us in that situation. However, we would have stolen a victory had we fielded that punt or just let it bounce.

The grand entrance of the team left a lot to be desired and I think it effected their play in the first half. The team wasn't even standing in the tunnel when the lead cheerleader with the giant flag took off. I think he saw the captains coming out of the tunnel for the coin toss at midfield and he jumped the gun. The rest merely followed as per usual. Either that or he he was cued too early. I guess you could say that it was a premature egress action.

At any rate, the team kind of streamed out so I think it took them out of their usual flow and there was not the usual time to get them fired up while waiting in the tunnel. I don't think they caught up with the normal game flow until halftime.

I also blame the cheerleaders for this loss.

It is amazing How Many Times Over The Years, during a game I find myself at several points looking around the stadium (and/or arena) wondering "Where are the cheerleaders"? "Are they even here"?

I think the few times I have found them they are standing (maybe sorta "cheering") down around the 10 yard line, across from the main gate entrance walkway, "cheering" to the ............. main gate entrance walkway? The visiting team section?

WTF???????

Anyone here ever been to an O$U game (yeah - prolly stupid question) - The cheerleaders WORK THE CROWD - I mean actually go into, up and around the stadium - WORKING THE CROWD. Cheer - LEADING. Lot more steps to climb than Peden, that's for sure..............

Are you really comparing Peden's crowd to the Horseshoe's crowd?

They also have cheerleaders who stay on the field. They have so many cheerleaders, they can split them up to do this.

Cheerleaders lead fans in cheers. Some stadiums are filled with fans that like to cheer. Some stadiums have fans that really don't want to cheer. When you compare cheerleaders, you really need to consider what stadium you are in.

So what I'm getting from the last couple of posts in this thread is that the CMU loss and the lack of crowd excitement can both be blamed on the cheerleaders.

In my section of the Old Fart Side the stadium was louder Saturday than at any time in recent memory.  In fact, Russell even mentioned that on the air.  Though only a few of us were standing on defensive third downs nearly everyone was making noise.
