Some of you talk about the student side like the tower side is just exploding with sound. I have actually never heard the tower side get all that excited, half the people wear OSU stuff to the game and probably don't know anything about our team.

The old fart side folks stay until the end or at least until the game is decided.  They seem to actually care about the outcome and many of them are giving significant bucks to the institution on a regular basis.  Yesterday, I only saw one idiot wearing OSU gear, though I didn't make a careful survey.  I dare say there were probably more on the student side. At the CMU game at the very end, I looked back from my Phillips Seats and survey the stands and they still looked completely full.  At that same time the student side was at least three-quarters empty.  And, some of us Old Zoners are pretty loud and stand for defensive third downs and yell and scream.  Yesterday, I almost lost my voice and so did everyone around me at the bogus late hit out of bounds call right in front of us.  At the same Russell on the radio was saying it was a good call.  Sometimes the game he calls and the one I see are two different worlds.

I have seen a smattering of OSU stuff but to me is seems that Ohio gear outnumbers Ohio State gear at least 10:1.  I saw far, far more Miami shirts yesterday than Ohio State.

I'll bet if you asked the average fan at an Ohio State game who the starting middle linebacker is 75% wouldn't have a clue.  They just want to win.  They know the quarterback, the running back, and a few receivers but don't understand the offense or know most of the lineman.

21,638 is the attendance as stated in the stats on ohiobobcats.com

The late hit out of bounds was a legit flag, though not as much on replay as I thought on live play.  Jovon is fast and he was going after it pretty much full speed.  He should have pulled off on the contact a bit though.

Ahem...I've been sitting on the tower side since 1997, and I would venture to say you might be exaggerating just a tad...You might try understating to make a case...

The fans leaving and not cheering was perfect strategy--preparring the team for the exact conditions they will face in Buffallo and Bowling Green--empty seats.

Buffalo is averaging over 20,000 per game this year...

If there's more than 7,000 actual bodies at the game on a Tuesday night, I'd be shocked.

You are crazy, those people are rabid, much like the OHIO fans on this board. 75% no way

Hahaha, you mean they're reporting, on average, over 20,000/game. They give those tickets away like candy up here

I counted 6 I saw that had both Fiami AND O$U gear on (i.e. Fiami hat, O$U jacket, etc.) - ?????

The O$U gear is still way too prevalent - but OHIO outnumbers it A LOT more than 10:1 - I would say more like 50:1.

I agree.  It seems more like 50:1 to me as well.  I was being conservative in case my experience has been biased.  Its why I said "at least".  I was actually going to type something like "it seems more in the range of 50:1 to me" when I typed that but elected not to.

I think I saw about 15 Miami people yesterday and 2 OSU - and probably several hundred people wearing Ohio gear.

Terrible student exodus. Terrible cheering on the tower side.
Good news is the first half was great. OU OH YEAH feels big-time. That chant is money. Credit to everyone for sticking with it. I was watching Mizzou's game against South Carolina... They do MIZ-ZOU. Ours sounds way better. Did anyone see the line for students and their guests to get in? It was long. Really long. The students showed up, were loud, then bailed.

On my drive to Athens, I was listening to College Gameday on the radio. They were talking to Nick Saban. He was imploring students at Alabama to stay for the entire game. Turns out people leave Alabama games early too... He talked about how he understands why they leave but for the good of the program they need to stay the whole game.

Change takes time. We are moving in the right direction. A MAC Championship would help the cause!

The MIZ-ZOU chant doesn't sound good on TV because the the PA annoucer usually starts the "MIZ" part. I've been there in person and it sounds really cool.

I can second that.  MIZ-ZOU rocks their stadium. However, the Tiger fans are known for leaving early too. Used to be because the game was usually over by half, not in a good way.

They may be giving away tickets but have you gone to any of their home games? I've been to every one so far. Outside of their game against UMASS, their attendance numbers seem legit.

They easily had over 20,000 against Stony Brook and Eastern Michigan.

No, I haven't been to any UB games this year (though I'll be there on tuesday). My derision at the 20k number was (perhaps inappropriately) based on having been to 1-2 games/year there over the past several years
