Hey, didn't those 1968 throwback helmets have an asterik or something in the logo where Athens is located?

As for who I want to be like: not Kent St!  Who wants one good year in 50 (oh, that was us pre FS+Co).

I would much rather be NIU...they are in the midst of a real good run under MULTIPLE coaches.  Obviously, they are doing something right.  So are we other than winning a MACC game.

As for amazing...other than the new addition (UMASS) you don't have to go back too far to have had EVERY team in the East win one divisional championship with, I think, no repaters.

I also wonder how many of those teams lost a coach after winning the division.  Probably most (other than us:)!

And Temps.

The goal for the university is to maximize its presence on national TV and the only way to do that is to have a consistent program that is always in contention for bowl games, conference championships and Top 25 finishes. That is what gets the program a labor day opener on ESPN and national broadcasts during the season. The 11-3 season was nice for Kent State but it takes the sail out of momentum when the program isn't expected to compete the next season.

In conversations with Frank it's quite clear that what he is trying to do at OHIO is not just to build a good football team but a good football program.  I think that's more than a trivial distinction.  I don't really think we had any building of a football program here between the time Bill Hess died and Frank was hired.  Grobe was starting in the right direction, but the program he was trying to build was geared almost totally to triple-option football.  His premature exit, though, stopped any program building in its tracks.

As much as I liked what Grobe did here, I wonder if things would've been all that good had he stayed.  In his six seasons at Ohio he was 33-33-1 with two winning seasons, three losing seasons and one .500 season.  A vast improvement over his predecessors, but pretty mediocre.  After 12+ seasons at Wake he is 77-79 with five winning seasons, and on track to be about .500 this year (4-5 so far).  A lot better than what they had before, but pretty mediocre.  I could be wrong because I haven't seen Wake much lately, but unlike Solich, Grobe doesn't seem to be interested in moving off the style of game he's always known.

BTW, Solich's record at Ohio through the NO Bowl loss to Troy: 40-36.  Since going no-huddle after the Troy loss: 25-10.

Keep in mind that Wake Forest has won a lower percentage of games than almost any FBS school, so .500 is not bad. He has more wins than any coach in Wake Forest history. His winning percentage is far higher than any of the coaches of Wake Forest since 1950.
