what did we sell 178 tickets to the Potato bowl? How many to Shreveport ? We do not travel well to bowl games, granted the 110 is somewhat of a plus

TV ratings for Ohio bowl games have been pretty good, though. That also carries some weight, especially since, once you get down the the 2d/3rd rate bowls, none of the teams they can pick from travel very well.

you didn't see the ULM crowd last year? Or the So Miss game a few years ago when they played us or the Troy game in NO? If a team is close and hungry for a bowl game, they bring very good crowds.

The point is Ohio is gaining ground as a bowl team.  The team, the band, the fans are all going to represent Ohio well.  At Shreveport there was a block of local youth who attended because some Ohio fans bought tickets and donated them to the cause.  Once you get this going there is "More Than Winning."  Ohio had a great time at Shreveport and I believe the team is better this year, so who knows. I ran into some AdvoCare officials and they were very happy to have Ohio. Next time I plan to buy tickets for our own use and more for local kids, might make them new Ohio fans.  Keep your head up.  Who knows, we might get Prior to 100% and Johnson back and finish strong yet.

IMHO.....we beat BG this week and win out, we should get a bowl pretty comfortably at 9-3.

Lose to BG and beat KSU and UMass it is possible.

I don't like our chances much at all with more than one loss down the stretch.

I really hope our guys come out to play this week and earn a hard fought victory-show us that the beatdown in Buffalo was an aberration and they are still playing for a championship season.

Think we can neatly tuck this one away for the year.

At this point it will take us winning out and some serious upsets for us to go to a bowl. ie Akron over Toledo, Air Force over UNLV ect. Maybe EMU over BGSU.

Maybe missing a bowl this year would be the best thing for the program (?) Yeah, I realize that might be anywhere from 2-4 extra weeks of practice we don't get, but if we somehow sneak into a bowl at 8-4 against this schedule, I wonder what motivation that provides to come back rip-snorting angry next year. After last year, maybe we just thought all we needed to be was healthy and we would roll our schedule and walk to a decent bowl? Failure might make a good motivator (and a cheaper Christmas). Despite all the pre-season slogans, was there ever a sense of urgency shown this year? Maybe against Marshall?

I honestly think 8-4 will get us a bid.

our 8-4 will beat out an Extra Sunbelt 6-6 team or an extra C-USA 6-6 team or maybe even a 6-6 MW.
I predict there will be 2 extra AAC games, 1 Big 12
C-USA will have too many teams for their bowls.  So I think you can eliminate the extra teams since they will be 6-6 and we beat what could be their 2 best teams. Sun belt will have 5 teams for 2 spots.  So you can eliminate 3 of those teams since they will all be 7-5 or 6-6
MW will most likely have 6 teams eligible for 5 bowls.  I would say we will get the nod over a 6-6 MW?? Maybe.

I say all of this to try and provide a glimmer of hope.   Wish we did not have to do such a deep dive on who's eligible and their records but we are where we are..

Getting ready to pack the car and head to Athens.   A 60 point blow out would sure help me get over the funk I've been in the past 2 weeks.

Go Bobcats.

If you put it in perspective the best bowl we could have gone to was probably against arkansas state anyway. We arent missing much if it makes you feel better.

What are the chances a 9-win team passes on a bowl bid this year?

I wouldn't go knocking any program when Kent is taking us to the woodshed.
