There is no middle to the pack in the conference right now Monroe. Its either top or bottom. Tonight Buffalo made us look like a bottom tier MAC squad with help from the referee.

The refs gave them some scores but, I repeat, they beat the shi* out of us on both sides of the ball.  They had some really good mean athletes.  We do not.

You know what I want? Some accountability. Just someone to step up and say, "That was my fault."

Frank: You let the team slide emotionally after the safety. They gave up. You're the HC, take some responsibility for it.

Albin: Please, just step up and admit the weaknesses in the play design, calls, and/or execution. We look great at times and horrible at times. A good offense should be consistent.

Both Albin and Burrows: From my perspective, you're both being out-coached. Game plans are good and we start fine, but other teams are adjusting in-game better than we are. Why?

T. Carrie: I love you, but dude, seriously, with the punt returns....You gotta be better than that. And I think you know it, too.

T^2: I don't know what the deal is, but c'mon man, something isn't right. Everybody can see it.


 

Nope, no question: we sucked *&@ tonight. No hustle, no heart. Got embarrassed by a medicore* Buffalo team. Can't believe I sat/stood out in the cold for 6 hours for that sh...crap.

Buffalo -- not the refs -- whipped us.  They got nine points off ref errors -- the fumble that wasn't and the phantom safety -- but after that it was just them taking us to the woodshed.  Even without the safety, we would've punted from our end zone, so what happened after that probably would've happened anyway.

They knew that they didn't have to respect our running game.  When T2's running, we effectively have a two-back set, but they know that the odds of him handing off the ball are pretty high, so they key on the running back and if T2 takes off, they usually have a linebacker or even a lineman who can track him down.

I was baffled by some of our play calling, too.  2nd & goal at the seven we try a fade that was incomplete, then on 3rd & goal we run?  Looked like we were playing for a FG instead of a tying TD.

And our D still hasn't figured out how to stop the bigger O lines from running all over us.

I'm not sure Solich would've gotten a penalty for doing a Pinella unless he had actually slugged the ref.  Those guys knew they blew it, but apparently didn't want to compound their screw-up by reviewing the call, which seemingly is not allowed by the rules as discussed elsewhere.  Usually when refs know they f***ed up, they give coaches a lot of latitude in arguing.  But it would've been nice to see him give them five or ten minutes of earful after that.  Our guys seemed to pack it in after that and seeing the normally reserved Solich blow up might've provided some spark.

If Donte can't go next week, it looks like Dovell will be the go-to guy.  He ran the slants well.

We are an average team, not good and not bad. Sagarin ranked around 80 and 6th in a below average conference. Take out the AP, Miami and EMU and we are .500. TT is a good QB not great and Statistics run up against the bottom crap of the MAC don't mean much. TT has not come up big in his last 4 critical MAC games, N. Ill in the MAC championship, Kent and BG last year and now Buffalo. In those last 3 games we have scored 23 total points with 1 TD pass. Yes the refs were horrible but in the coarse of a year they even out. We're much better than we were for 25 years which is great but until we win a MAC were not a great program just slightly above average in a bad conference. We should at least be knocking off a top 25 team once in a while but that's not happening either. Without a great QB we will not ever rise to that level or win a MAC.

Exactly.  If he never keeps it what is the point of calling that play?

And I think from last night, we learned that UB isn't mediocre. They're pretty good. They have a chance to finish the regular season 10-2. Let's not continue to talk down to them after they ripped us apart.

not so sure about this. If you look at the past 2 years, we are certainly a middle of the pack team with a 7-6 record. We are better than the dredges(although we lost to one of them last year) so maybe we really aren't much better. Seems like 2 really good teams, then BG, Toledo and Buffalo next, then CMU and Ohio and then the rest at the bottom. We are not in the upper couple levels right now.

My bad. I missed 3 sabers squads in a fit of angry hyperbole at 1 in the morning. Probably missed a decent bisons or bandits team somewhere in there too.
