Folks, is seriously time to give monroe some slack here. I used to hardly ever agree with him, then I started agreeing with him some and then more and more. Now I agree with him a whole lot. ....
It's up to each person to decide if they agree with him, or disagree with him. He's certainly entitled to his opinion, and he's entitled to express it. I've gone the other way from you, however, Casper. I used to agree with him a lot, but lately I almost never agree with him.
Why don't I agree with him anymore? I think that his negativity is excessive, and is bad for the program. I think it likely hurts recruiting, and hurts team morale. Yes, I know, players shouldn't come to Bobcatattack. Yes, prospective players shouldn't come here, either. Yes, I know, even if they do come here, they shouldn't worry about the things written here. Still, they are humans, and no doubt do come, and do read the stuff, and probably are occasionally affected by it. Is it a coincidence that the team morale seemed to vanish about the time that this board turned nastily negative? I don't know. Perhaps they are related, perhaps not.
Me, I tend to be optimistic most of the time. I tend to try to see the positives. I tend to try to appreciate the hard work that the players put in year round. I favor honestly appraising their performance, and then moving on to the next game, and never becoming overly personal, and not taking team failings personally. I'm not going to sugar coat this year's performance and say it was great, or that it met my expectations. It did neither. However, where I differ from Monroe is that I'm not going to dwell on that. I'm going to put it behind me, and start thinking about next year's team, and hope that the dynamics for next year are better than they were this year.
