I can't remember seeing a more exciting ending with so much on the line. Epic.

Insanity. You see a missed FG return for a TD maybe once every 3 or 4 seasons. You just saw it in arguably the biggest rivalry in college sports, on the last play of the game, after the losing team's coach ACTIVELY LOBBIED THE REFS TO PUT 1 SECOND BACK ON THE CLOCK SO HIS 0 FOR 3 KICKER COULD TRY A 57 YARD FG, to beat the consensus #1 team in America.

I love this game.

That's the best ending since "the band is on the field"..

so...if Michigan State beats OSU and Florida State somehow loses to Duke and NIU gets past BG...

Then MIZZOU or Auburn play Baylor. NIU will be in the Fiesta Bowl

What an Iron Bowl.  Too bad Michigan couldn't have converted the 2 pt conversion.  It would have been like the year Mizzou and WV both lost the same day.  Damn..Go Spartans!

My VCR ran out of recording space when Alabama lined up for the FG. What happened?

It's at least the strangest ending ever.  Not only did Bama lobby to get a second back on the clock, but their kicking game was terrible today.  So they bring in a freshman kicker for only his third attempt this season and it's run back 109 yds (officially 100) for a TD.

Dom Tiberi is convinced that O$U will be #2 this week, but I wouldn't count on it.  As much trouble as they had vs Mich today, Auburn will likely jump to the #2 spot.

I'm no Buckeyes fan, but if they are not #2, that's wrong. What else does a team need to do? If the answer is to have a tougher schedule, Alabama's SOS is 55, OSU's is 67.

Auburn should be #1 after grabbing a win like that over Alabama. Somewhere in the Top 2 at least. The voters are going to be all over this one. With Missouri coming up in the title game for Auburn what they've earned might not last long.

When it comes to teams in BCS conferences, I don't know how you can rank a one-loss team over an undefeated team. Odd that both wins for Auburn and OSU were that dramatic in the final seconds.

OSU's season highlight is a 7 point win over Wisconsin at home. Auburn's loss was to LSU by 14 on the road but they beat #1 Alabama. LSU and Wisconsin are both toss up games. Throw both of them out and OSU doesn't belong ahead of Auburn on resume. The Buckeyes need to go out and schedule an upper division SEC team in the non-conference and win if they want more respect. They belong sitting on the outside looking in Boise State style.

I think a lot of the voters will get caught up in the moment and bump Auburn up.  They went toe-to-toe with the #1 team and beat them on a smart play.  Only the computers really care about SOS, but Auburn has the advantage there -- their SOS is 25, considerably higher than O$U's.  Auburn has played 5 top 25 teams; O$U only 2.

BCS conferences aren't uniformly strong. Would you have Louisville ranked ahead of Alabama right now if they never lost to UCF? Don't vote with your gut by looking at 100,000 seats and saying they have to be great. I had a brainwashed relative tell me that they named OSU's stadium Cooper stadium after I mentioned that Cooper wasn't that great of the coach. What she was implying was OSU has always been one of the very best teams in college football. After looking it up it was the baseball stadium named Cooper Stadium (doh).

I'm so jaded from the inequities of the FBS system that I don't even watch AQ games anymore. Don't care about what happened in AL or MI today and I'm not going to give them another tuned in TV set to contribute to their enorm-o media contracts.

And then there's this quote from the Auburn AD-

"An SEC team can't get left out of the (championship game) with one loss," Jacobs said. ... it would be a disservice to the nation if we got left out,"

A disservice to the nation?? I wish I had more than 2 hands so I give him more than 2 middle fingers.

Love Ohio football, like MACtion, tolerate the G5, HATE the rest of it.

So why not rank Auburn #1 then? The same arguments against OSU apply to FSU - similar SOS, questions about who they've defeated.

They beat #3 Clemson 51-14. Complete crushing by Florida State against a team sitting at only 1 loss for the season that will end up in a BCS bowl. OSU doesn't have a victory in that ball park. Florida State is averaging 55.2 points per game #2 in the county while giving up 11.4 a #2 in the country. OSU is 48.7 and 18.4 respectively against a weaker schedule. Auburn will get 1/4 first place votes for #2 overall and Florida State 3/4 first place votes for #1 overall. There is no way anyone is giving Ohio State a first place vote and doubtful FSU or Auburn pick up less than second place votes. Its all going to be about whether the computers say OSU is #2 because they are undefeated with Auburn in the 3-4 range with 1 loss. Would that be enough to propel OSU #2 in the BCS standings I don't believe so.

So it seems then that the Big Ten and MAC have something in common. No matter which conference, you can go undefeated but  your conference wins just aren't enough.

When looking at Michigan State their momentum is undeniable. The end of the road for OSU could easily be Indy.

I agree El Gato. MSU will be tough. Looking at the SEC, though, Auburn, Alabama and Mizzou are all ranked in the top 5. But their OOC games are not that impressive. Among the 3, VT is the best OOC opponent, followed by Toledo. It really drops after that. The fact that their conference members are ranked and beat up on each other makes their schedules look difficult.

I don't ever remember watching two back to back college football games like I watched today.
