And I am completely sympathetic to a guy seeing what the game of football has done to past players physically and mentally and not wanting to keep doing it. It's real and it's scary. But don't keep going out there if you don't want to play. Quit. I'd applaud that, making an informed decision about your long-term health. But this is just wasting everybody's time and a lot of teammates' efforts.

If Mike is right, it's an interesting topic to delve into. Does Tyler know his heart isn't in it anymore? Can he not admit it to himself? Does he feel pressure to not quit?

Does anyone remember the video of Tettleton and Blankenship watching the video of O'Brien writing us off?  That look that he gave Beau; yeah, that's what's missing.

EDIT:  before Penn State

I feel like we're overlooking the possibility that he's become a zombie. Or some sort of zombie-like creature.

I was going to make a joke about zombies being aggressive, but let's not beat that one to death.

Thank you for suggesting this.  I hadn't thought of that possibility, but it does kind of put some of the missing pieces of the puzzle on the board.

Sorry I wasn't watching the game...what do you mean he 'just sat down?'  Are we talking mid-play?

He was about to get sacked/hit as he was scrambling and just went into this half slide/sit down gesture instead of trying to throw the ball or go upfield etc. Weird play, bad body language afterward

If sitting is his thing, he should have no problem doing it on the bench.

I think a whole lot of this is on TT.  However, there is absolutely no talent around him, period.  The line sucks and the receivers are slow and drop balls.  This is on a lack of bigger, stronger, faster athletes than the opposition.

Besides that, the defense has given up 120 something points the last three weeks.  No ability to cover or tacklet.

Up until this year, i always said FS teams were prepared and focused.  Not so the last three games.  Anyone see them come out for the second half?  Kent comes out together, gets in lines and does its warm up.  We have guys straggling out at kick off time and everyone is doing their own thing to get ready.  Its a little thing but it just shows our lack of preparedness.

Tettletoning is the new Planking! A variant of sitting in, where one simply sits down when in the midst of action.

If he was saving himself for the NFL draft, his plan has backfired, he will not even get a camp invitation. If he is just trying to end his Bobcat career safely, he is doing a good job. He has excellent running backs and good wide receivers, yet he has severely under-performed. I still wish him, well, but he is not the best Bobcat quarterback of all time. We always make excuses for all of the starters. Every year we criticize fans for being honest about players under-performing. The coach needs to hold them accountable. TT was going to start every game no matter what because he beat Penn State in a lot of our minds. Now some of us are facing the music. We need to look at the starters on D as well. Go Cats!

Very confusing. He had the chance to be the most accomplished QB at Ohio and he gives up half way through? I understand that his O line wasn't the same as years past, but this is clearly not the same player from 2 years ago.
No energy or willingness to at least try to make something work. I still blame the coaching staff for letting this continue so long this year. If we are going to lose this bad at least let Vick get some play time and experience under his belt.

The ESPN guys did everything but call him out last nite as well. They referred multiple times on the lack of Tyler running the ball and even pointed out the disparity in his run stats between his Soph. year and his Senior year. IF we are supposed to be running a Pistol offense, a major cog in that has to be that the QB actually does run the ball on occasion. I contend we don't really run a Pistol anymore. We just run Beau into a brickwall. Can't believe Frank has allowed this to spiral down to where it's now completely imploded. If the ESPN guys have figured out Tyler is not the same QB from just a scant 2 years ago, you would think it has dawned on the OHIO braintrust as well.

Knew we were in for a long night when the first play from scrimmage was, BIG surprise, Hey Diddle Diddle - Beau Up the Middle! Could we possibly get any easier to defense?

I posted this on another thread, but again, if you pull TT, you get Vick. He can't get it done either. Not with the same circumstances (lack of blocking).

Some might say that Tyler Tettleton has lost his smile.

I said several weeks ago that TT should be benched and Vick should start. I also said on these threads that Kent State would win this game. It all starts with the QB and TT lost it a long time ago. Just need an impartial observer like myself to recognize it. We should have benched him weeks ago so at this point it doesn't matter.

While I agree that our D has been pathetic the last 3 games, it also doesn't help them when the O goes 3 and out too many times and gives a half-assed effort. Look at last night(and even the Buffalo game), they were in the game for the first half, but by the second half, they started running out of gas and realized that once they game got beyond 7 points, it was over because the O wasn't going to do much.

It becomes extremely discouraging for a defense to bust their asses and watch an offense that just doesn't care.

I just don't know what is the problem with Tettleton. He is embarrassing himself and the University out there right now.

I honestly don't have a clue what went wrong this year, but something went horribly wrong. Whether it was a question of leadership, or a question of effort, I don't know. I remember well back in 2005 defending AE on here when many said he couldn't get it done. Whatever he lacked in ability he made up with heart, and 2006 was a fun year.

I don't mind rooting for a team that loses, so long as they gave it their best shot. This team this year, I just can't say that I think they did that.  I hope they figure things out in the off-season.

I am also very disappointed in Donte, Beau and Travis.  As senior captains they need to kick him in the butt or go to Solich.  These are the last games for TT to ever play competitive football.  I guess he doesn't want a nagging injury the rest of his life but his decision to just crap the bed let his teammates down.  Talk about shrinking in the spot light.  Why hasn't Beau pulled TT aside and say, "Dude you are going to get me killed on this option."

I hope that everything that is wrong with this team is TT's fault.

Because if itsn't then there's a chance these problems will continue next year and I can't handle that. So I'm going to blame everything on TT and some of the other senors and hope I'm right. Nothing personal TT.

Exactly, the offensive lines is terrible. EVERY time we run a pass play TT has to run for his life as soon as he gets the snap. On a really good running play (up the middle seems to be the only one we have) we might get one yard if  we're lucky. The defense is just nonexistent.
