Poorly called personal foul penalty on Russell was a definite momentum changer.

Agree guys but ya gotta put one play behind you and get on with the game.  We let one call demoarlise us and we basically were not in the game afterwards.  It should have pissed some people off and made em play harder.

This was not the refs fault. We loss because we played with no emotion and we failed to to stop the running game. I am tired of us being happy with close games,

The fact that you can't drag someone down by the shirt-tail without a personal foul being called against you but can act like the football is glued to your hand is downright despicable.

Watch the whole play.  After the pull down he flipped the guys ankle.  Still a crap call though!

Had them on the ropes?  Really?  Does that mean anything to anyone.  Do we get a trophy for that.

I wasn't particularly impressed with ECU.  I definitely was not impressed by the caliber of our play.

Does 37-20 mean anything to you.

Didn't play the first or fourth quarter.  Same crap, different game.  We have seen this all year.

allen, are you capable of acknowledging ECU's talent and effort? They were 14 point favorites and they needed everything they had to win. It was a good football game. The youngsters will be better than these seniors.

Wow, we lost by less than 14 points. We allowed an average running back to get 200 yards. Our senior quarterback had three turnovers. We had to call four timeouts because of alignment problems. We did not execute well and our quarterback made numerous mistakes.

I'd like to watch play by play with the apologists so we could analyze.  I can buy that we played with effort. today  That we have much talent, that we have any dynamic players, that our play-calling is anything above dull--a play by play analysis would defy that.  The next time that our o-line opens holes for the run game against a quality opponent will be the first time in many a moon.

It would have been nice this year to see just a quarter or two of one of our players putting it to the other side in a game that wasn't against a really weak opponent.  Instead, in every key game it was Beefs linebacker, and o-line and running back, and BG's o-line, and CMU's running back, etc, etc, etc showing the power.

Considering our recent efforts, I was pleased with the performance today. The guys played hard, and hung with a better team up until the final quarter.

I guess I would ask Monroe, why would you expect anything better? We don't have the talent they do...so why should we expect more than a relatively close loss? I mean, this is the same team that got blown out by Kent, at home.

I listened to most of the game on the radio before I left work for home and was surprised to hear the genuine enthusiasm out of Russ and Rob as Ohio made their comeback. It was almost like they were watching a completely different team than they've seen all year.

Go up 20-17 in the 4th quarter and get shut out 20-0 the rest of the way? How does that happen?

ECU should have blown us out in the first quarter - going for it on 4th down (80% success rate all year) didn't work out for them.  Had Ohio scored after the onside kick I think the outcome of the game may have been different.  I have to give credit to Frank and the team - they did everything to put the Bobcats in position for the upset.  in the end they came up a little short.  All things considered, I was pleased with our showing - at 14-0 in the first quarter it looked like a Bengals/Steelers or Bears/Eagles flashback.  I'm fine with it.  On to basketball.

It was inevitable that ECU was going to break through for a couple scores late. I was glad our D held them in check long enough for us to take the lead.

But... three trips into ECU territory in the 2nd half, two fgs, one fg miss. That's why we lost. Ball needs to go into endzone to win. I can't remember a Bobcat team in many a moon that just can't finish drives the way this team got bogged down.  After that most spectacular onside kick, we come away with nothing. Ball game. I think the wind came out of our sails right there. Toss in a couple very questionable calls against us on the ensuing drive and things got hairy fast. I think people calling out the effort yesterday are way off. This team played hard to the end. We were a 7-6 team that lost to a better team in a game that was much closer than the score. I"m not satisfied, but I can't say I was shocked.

That onside kick was one of the most superawesomefantasticthings ever.

Yaz was a pretty good high school soccer player.  That kick was a result of all those years of juggling and pinpoint passes.  Best conceived and executed onside kick I've ever seen.

Onside kick will be a great memory for me. Who coaches that squad anyway?

What is the point of the title of this thread.

A proper reading is that when it mattered over the last 12 minutes of the game, the score was

The title here is a classic everyone gets a trophy.

Sorry.  Middle to lower tier of the MAC is not my standard.

That call was not a bad one.  It was pure bonehead on OHIO all the way.  Did you see Frank's reaction?  It could easily have cost us the game.  Instead of the third and long, ECU had first and ten fifteen yards further down the field.  That was as stupid an action by an OHIO player in any sport that I've seen for a long time. As soon as I saw it, even before the flag came out, I knew what was going to happen. The refs called it right.

Merry Christmas to you Monroe. May 2014 bring you an Ohio program that continues winning in a manner you can appreciate. Without the winning is the only thing that leads to poor behavior from fans/players/coaches. May the athletes be provided good leadership. I would love to hear more from the families of the athletes. Saw the Thompson group, also met family of Mr. Branz. They seem to feel Ohio is pretty great. For me there is a whole lot more to this than win the MAC or you s*#$.

I think our inability to run the ball was the biggest factor in the loss. Long time consuming drives that produce FG's and TD's keeps the ball away from the opposition. That is what we needed in the 4th quarter. A few 3 and outs and a turnover put lots of pressure on our defense.

Sorry, but this irks me bigtime.  Yes, I love that our lads and their families are involved.  But good behavior and leadership are baseline.   Not having these is unacceptable.

So, these are baseline, minimal expectations.

Hitting them does not mean success, does not make me think that, yeah, we've achieved.  In the league that we are in, thinking that we can compete for the conference championship almost every year and win it reasonably often is not an outsized expectation.

I'm sure that EMU and redhawk have good behavior and leadership.

Your minimal standards bespeak apologism.*

Why are we still years away from a conference championship?
