Man, we are really short in offensive linemen. We better hope that we don't have any injuries or last year will seem like a good dream compared to the nightmare that will happen

Well, with 12-13 linemen in Spring Practice, that's been about typical. I remember one or two years there was only 8 offensive linemen for Spring practice, which ruled out a real spring game.

Down to a 10-person Senior class by my count.

And, of those 10, Edmond and McLeod were Jucos,  Landon  Smith, Tony Davis, and Crutcher are from the 2011 class, and Kendric Smith is transfer. That means there are only 4 players left from the 2010 recruiting class, and three of those play the same position.

I think this roster over time will prove to have errors.
I just can't believe Curtis and Welter are both gone. Smith has had injury problems but you never heard much about the other 2 other than they were highly regarded out of high school....especially Welter. We always have a few minor injuries in the spring so if this is true I can't see how we could have a spring game. Haser should be on the OL and maybe another DL will be moved.

Is it possible players they knew would not participate due to injury recovery are left off the Spring roster?  Are there roster limits for Spring practice?

Based on this roster, we have 14 WRs and 3 RBs, with 1 ATH most likely to be among the WRs. When the recruits get here in the fall, we'll have 17 WRs, 5 RBs, and 2 ATHs (counting Walker as an ATH instead of a WR).

I assume we're installing the oopty oop this spring.

Per Arkley on Twitter, he believes there are a number of omissions/mistakes. Said he'll be doing a story on it sometime this week to set things straight.

It's a shame, but sometimes the least accurate source of information is our own official website.

Yes, the website is a disaster.  Just today I received an email telling me that as a season ticket holder for basketball I had to buy seats for the first round tourney game on Monday.  They gave a number to call.  However, the ticket office was closed when I called. What good planning!  Then, I went to the web site to order the tickets. There was a link on the main page about the tourney . . . but this went to a boilerplate story about the tourney.  Nowhere was there a link to take you to the page to order first-round MAC Tournament tickets.  It took a good deal of non-intutitive searching around the site to find the place to actually order tickets.  You'd think after sending that email out this morning they would have had someone in the ticket office to take telephone orders and at the very least have a home page link highlighted for that purpose.  So, I wouldn't be surprised if there are major errors on the spring football roster.  Sorry to mix sports, here, but the lack of attention to detail is sometimes very aggravating.

There may be a roster limit, but with the Seniors from last year gone, and the recruits from next year not here yet, they would never reach it, which is why the Spring is when you often see a lot of new walkons, and why there is always room for Jucos. If new walkons exist, they are not listed on the roster. New additions, like Cameron Wilson, are exactly the ones that I think will be participating in spring, but who are not listed on the roster. Unlike some, I think it may well be true that the ones missing from the roster may be gone. There were something like 91 known scholarships, and there had to be some people gone to make room for all the incoming recruits.

Same here. The one part of the site usually not lacking in information is purchasing tickets. The sites we have for basketball/football tickets (http://www.ohiobobcats.com/basketball/) are among the best in the country, IMO.

Rosters, stats, etc? Those leave a lot to be desired...

Little info on Mr. Wilson, former Hawkeye. Everyone makes mistakes. 10 catches for 131 in their Spring Game.

I assume we're installing the oopty oop this spring.

Now that they have added the new walkons, etc, by my count the numbers are:
OL - 14 (will be 20 in the fall)
TE - 6 (7 in the fall)
QB - 4 (5 in the fall)
RB - 5 (7 in the fall)
WR - 16 (20 in the fall)

CB - 6 (will be 9 in the fall)
S - 14 (will be 16 in the fall)
LB - 14 (will be 16 in the fall)
DE - 6 (will be 9 in the fall)
DT - 8 (will be 7 in the fall)

P - 3
PK - 3
LS - 2

Fourteen offensive linemen should be enough for a full Spring Game, if they decide to have one. Note that a lot of the new walkons will vanish come fall camp, when they have to pare the roster down to 105. The numbers I have for fall add up to 124, which obviously won't happen.

The oopty oop?

On the whole it looks like a pretty talented group of walkons. It should shore up the depth at RB, TE, and LB a little, and if history is any guide, at least one of these will work their way up to a scholarship, given that they seem to give a few a year to walkons. One of these, Wilson, may well already have one, since I would think he would have had several scholarship offers after leaving Iowa.

Arkley tweeted that two OL are sitting out the spring with injuries, but he didn't specify which ones, so that cuts you to 12 linemen still enough for a Spring game. Who is out? Maybe Bubba Williams, who was still sitting out with an injury late last season, and perhaps Murdock who was still recovering from surgery, but those are only guesses.

Well crap....what does the spring game do anyway?

This team looks like the incoming freshman could field a better team .

Go ahead and play a game and have more injuries to add to a redshirt freshman team.

Do I sound like a Darksider?

Duh.

What a crock!  Once you got to the right part of the web site there was no way you could order your season ticket seats.  You could only specify the row and then the system picked the seats for you.  I'm really not sure what planet you guys are living on.  I don't know anyone else who has had experience ordering tickets on our web site who thinks it's anything more than pure crap.  I do a good deal of online shopping for various things and this site is one of the very worst I've ever seen for ordering anything.  It's a real disgrace.

And, here we go again  Injuries to the O-line.  It's just standard "operating" procedure .  I can't wait til November when we have only one O-line guy playing who started the first game of the year...

It does look like they are trying to change the routine for the offensive line. Here's a pic that describes a new pre-practice stretching routine for the O-line. I would guess they are trying to make other changes as well to result in less injuries, so let's hope it all adds up to a healthier O-Line.
