What administrator rolled into Huntington, WV, back in the 90s and talked about them West Virginians rollin in "the moonshine wagons."  Needless to say, this did not go over well in Herdistan.

I should know this but I don't.  I do remember the quote, and I think it was a football coach and he was referring to Herd fans attending football games.  I'm going to guess Jim Donnan.

Simply because he's the only administrator I know from the 90s, Tom Boeh?

No...not Donnan or Boeh...

Here's a hint: He was commissioner of the MAC at the time. And his last name kind of rhrymes with "apology", which is appropriate considering how many times he stuck his foot in his mouth.

If we ever have a "guess which BA poster posted this" any post that has only 1 word in it means I will guess Monroe.

I'm not sure if your slamming or jesting or what , but that is a quote.  It's most appropriate for this thread.

Jeff - you're the only person I know who can recite the last names of every MAC Commish in order - from inception to current and vice versa.

The clue helped - Jerry Ippoliti?

Autocorrect changed Commish to Finnish!

Jest. I am of the belief people take the internet too seriously. I enjoy your presence.

Joe...you're correct, it's Jerry Ippoliti.

BTW, Joe, three commissioners were palindromes...can you name them?

A bobcatattacker submitted the following question:

Who opened his show with...."They'll be dancing in South Bend and they're dancing on Court Street?"

I remember watching him on ABC's scoreboard show in the early '70s talking about our win over Fiami.  He started with "Ahhh, yes!  They're dancing at Court and Union tonight!"

Excellent, OCF! Dave Diles it is, on the Prudential College Scoreboard in 1979 after Notre Dame beat Michigan and Ohio beat Eastern Michigan.

Jeff, I remember many times that Dave made similar statements on his scoreboard show.  I loved to watch that show because I was a college football fan and because I liked having "one of ours" giving the scores.  Years later, I had a chance to meet him in person when he came with his sister to our church.  Unlike some folks that I've met who have been on the national stage, he was a humble and down-to-earth kind of guy.  I really enjoyed meeting him.

Who was known to express tongue in the cheek skepticism about his players' injuries by saying, "Some of 'em have hang nails and chapped lips, but we'll try to get them ready by game time."

Sounds like a southern, probably an SEC coach.  I'll guess Bear Bryant.

Second guess: Frank Broyles, guess he was in the SWC rather than the SEC for most of his coaching career, but he's one of those classic southern coaches who might say something like that.

Not Broyles, but he and the Bear were good guesses.

Not Spurrier.  This coach used to coach at a northern school.

But was he a native of the South?  Or, am I barking up the wrong tree?
