Minnesota is favored by 17 over Eastern Illinois. If they can win by 17, I'll be a lot less worried about EIU.

CMU representing the league well down 16-7 to a FCS or 1-AA team at home.

I'm not sure about the logic behind these Thursday night 1AA @ 1A games.  The main reason for playing on Thursday night is TV exposure but none of these games is on TV.  And I'd expect attendance to be not that great.  So unless they're giving themselves more time to prep for the second game of the season, it doesn't seem to make much sense.

Whatever the logic is, it isn't good logic. Fortunately for CMU, it is pretty much impossible for them to fall below #2 in the directional Michigan rankings.

CMU coming out on fire in the 2nd half. Now up 20-16 and threatening to score again.

It's because of Labor Day weekend. Some schools do it every year despite not playing on TV. They hope to get better crowds with students there than over the weekend when many are, or could be, gone. Not saying it's the best idea but it's why some schools do it every year.

Former MAC coach Dave Clawson made his debut with Wake Forrest tonight by losing at ULM 17-10. Wake failed to score an offensive TD and had just 1 drive longer than 16yds. The Demon Deacons totaled 94 yards of offense, including -3yds rushing on 27 carries. ULM is predicted to finish 6th in the Sun Belt.

Enjoy all that P5 money, Dave.

Coach Clawson was making 400K at BG and left with a 90-80 overall coaching record.  Two years before he was at 72-72. A two year run of 18-8 with a MAC Championship over NIU and he became a hot brand.  Well now he is at Wake, good luck and God bless.

Texas A&M clobbers the Gamecocks. Wow.

Wake did block a Lou-Mo punt for a TD. So, Clawson still has that going for him.

So true, Vandy just could not run the ball. Temple did. Run the ball, stop the run, win the game.

Definitely a rough start for Derek Mason, but somewhere there is a guy with a boa that is happy.

Very interested to see how BG does at WKU tonight.

Akron looks like they are ready to explode this year and shock everybody.  If they do, it will be interesting to see if they gain any fans.

Marshall at Miami Saturday.  I'm predicting Marshall in a complete romp.

I had lunch yesterday with several Marshall fans. Their attitude is....interesting. All fully expect to dominate the Chickens, but none would lay the 24 points Vegas is giving Fiami. And reading more about how backwards Treadwell was (I did not realize that he would not let his players lift or condition due to risk of injury and fatigue), they may surprise now that they have a coach who at least understands how college football works. I'm not saying Fiami wins or even stays within 2 touchdowns, but they may look better than expected.

They can't look worse.

Akron had 9,100; NIU 12,300; CMU claims over 15,000.  Mixed results, at best.

21-0 now. BG's defense may not be the world beaters they were last year. Offense has moved the ball decently, but defense hasn't had any answer for WKU.

Maybe we'll have a better chance against BG this year.

I have a feeling BG will pick it up in the second half. They seem to be able to move the ball on offense. Need some stops if they are going to get back into this game.
