High school band day - 19 bands and parents - always a big crowd for a half.

It should be just about ideal weather, too.

I kind of get annoyed we have band day at our home opener. Do it for one or the games where attendance will be low not the highest of the year. So for example the Umass game last year where all the students were home. Bring them then.

+1 - Nothing says College Football, like having those high school bands playing. For many Freshman, this may be their first (and only) college football experience.

I believe band day was first designed to increased attendance when the football season started before school was in session, I don't think that is going to be issue now that Ohio is on the semester system. Time for Band Day to get moved.

I always loved Band Day, but I agree, it should be at a less-well attended game, if possible. Of course, it is doubtful that many bands can make it on one of the mid-week games, so it has to be a Saturday, which means any week will be pretty well attended, and that may take you back to the first game.

I also like making Band Day a big deal in more ways than just having the bands in the endzone, and on the field. When I was at Northwestern, Band Day started with a parade through downtown, then across campus, ending at Dyche Stadium, just in time for the game. Since in those days tickets were not required for students to get into the game, it had a Pied Piper-like affect, as students trailed along behind the bands to the stadium, so student attendance was unusually high on band day.

Sadly, if the program gets to the point where they can fill the stadium with paid admissions, one thing that goes is Band Day, which is a shame, because it's so festive.

Good guys a fairly substantial amount, visitors only break double figures in the fourth quarter. I'm optimistic.

A typical home schedule looks something like this-

September
Gm1- Opener
Gm2

October
Gm3- Homecoming
Gm4-

November
Gm5- Weeknight
GM6- Weeknight

If you're scheduling Band Day your choices are pretty limited. You have to do it as early as possible before band competition season kicks in, at the end of the year you're not going to get high school kids to sit out in the cold to watch UMass, homecoming is not an option... there really aren't a lot of choices.
