Looking through their stats it becomes apparent that this team has a turnover issue. 7 ints and 3 lost fumbles out of 7.
We could have a field day with this turnover record.
If we force at least 3 more turnovers than we give we should come out with a win.

With OUr running backs' tendency to fumble the ball, EIU can say the same about Ohio too. Hopefully that changes today!

Our game notes show Brunis and Lowery starting on offense ahead of guys like Mcqueen and Sebastian Smith.

Per Arkley:
On the injury front, Cope is apparently out with a concussion, but Brunis, who was held out last week, was cleared to return. William Johnson, who has been a #1/#2 linebacker has been suspended for a rules violation, but there is no indication of how long that is for. Justin Wyatt and Jarid Brown traded positions, Wyatt from WR to CB, and Brown moved from CB to WR.

There is no word on why McQueen isn't on the depth chart, though.

Why did they remove the paw print from the back of OUr green helmets? Other than that, we look good. Bring back the paw!! Go Cats

The ESPN3 announcers gave Greg Windham credit for the punt block. That would be awesome if a backup QB blocked a punt but I'm thinking it had to have been the other #14, Fr CB Cameron Gunnels. Anybody listening to Russ on the radio who can confirm?

With McQueen out, for whatever reason, they tried a variety at LT today. At various times I saw McCray, Lowery, Adams, and Watson playing there.

Pretty solid win. Really didn't feel that EIU was in it after the opening drive, even though they had opportunities to make it closer. Main concern is injuries. OUllette was the worst, but Sprague also seemed to be holding his lower back after the second long run. His passes sailed on him after that, like he wasn't following through. Basham's shoulder wasn't bad enough to keep him out; he was in at the end. Good to see Daz running with confidence, and the LB play was outstanding today.

I know some would have liked more, but, it seemed once the game was in hand they started working on playing new people on the depth chart.

Also definitely prefer the previous version with the narrow white stripe down the middle instead of the three wide stripe.

Serviceable win. EIU strikes me as not very good. Their qb wasn't much of a thrower. Would've like to see us get more pass rush pressure.

CMU is gonna be a test, their power running game.

My biggest impressions of today: Love Tim Edmond's enthusiasm and support for his teammates even when he hadn't played a down. Wise to play the backups so much today--rewards them for their practice efforts and develops their experience. Sure would like to see Walker, Robbie in there. Could his speed could be a real game-breaker, difference maker?

Oh, one more: The qb draw at the goal line is dead for us for the rest of the year. Teams will sit on it since we've used it so much.

Probably right. Throughout the season teams establish tendencies and good teams then change from them. The good thing about a balanced offense is there is a practiced yang to go to when they expect ying.

Ah okay, thanks.

Seemed like a pretty good win. EIU was well-coached and speedy. Great that the backups got some time and nice to see Daz do well.

CMU will be tough. I think they're going to lose to Toledo tonight though (CMU is ahead 7-6 as I type this).

with loss EIU falls to 1-4. The two FBS teams Ohio has beat are a combined 0-8, the two they lost to are a combine 7-1. CMU is 2-2 with a game in progress, I am unable to predict our outcome next week.

I'd love to see us return the favor to CMU from last year.

My preseason prediction for CMU was a loss. I hope I'm wrong. The team is definitely improving, and they are battlers, so there is no game left they couldn't win, but no game left that they couldn't lose, either.

Yep, RS FR Grant Cunningham. Gunnels is a true freshman who looks like he will RS. Cunningham's number was switched from 31 to 14. He is a safety playing on special teams.

Too bad for the fans in attendance that OHIO didn't face the EIllinios of last season. Talking to their disappointed fans they mentioned the excitement of having a future NFL QB at the helm directing their offense. Seeing Garoppolo would have been something for all of us to remember as well and probably for the players too if he makes an impact in NE or another team at some point in his career.

Would have been interesting too see if OHIO's offense could have kept pace with that attack had it come to Athens this season.

Sprague's scramble for TD makes ESPN College Football Week 5 Top Plays at #4 -

edit - for the linka above to work, it must include the "-/" at the end following the "e". For whatever reason the hyperlink is not inluding it. Are we going to get the edit toolbar back? If you copy and paste the entire link it should work.

I like the defender's ill-fated attempt at a Superman dive tackle towards the end of the long TD run by AJ. That was quite comical.

Also, where's the excitement after a big play is made? Jordan Reid makes an amazing catch and only one guy, the guy who threw him the ball, congratulates him. Almost the same thing happened on AJ's 1st TD. You guys just scored a TD! GET UP!

Did anybody notice EIU had a guy whose sole job was to hold up a neon yellow sign that said "3rd DOWN" when it was 3rd down. Do they not know they have these cool "Dial-A Down" devices on the sideline, not to mention scoreboards and loud speakers? I sure hope that guy was on a volunteer basis.
