Update from yesterday.....I couldn't pass up going to the game.

I do not know why things were different but not one hassle for drinking out of a cup in the Peden Lot yesterday. Given what happened last year, it doesn't add up but I'll take it.

Parking....as far as I could tell the same issues exist there. I could park around uptown for free after 6 PM. However, I guess the catch is you cannot leave your sled on the street over night due to the street sweeper rolling around 3 AM (at least that is what I was told).

Great tip from the bartender at The Cat's Eye.He told me to feed the meter at the Athens City Garage through Midnight. After Midnight, you can park there Sunday for free so I was covered. Not the most convenient thing but worked.

I also heard there are free spots down by Morton good for overnight Saturday. My buddy scored one and was also covered.

Was an awesome day capped off by a win.
If you don't have a parking pass on gamedays, try the Klippinger lot.
This.

Interesting thread.

The numbers are striking in Athens but Pale in comparison to OUr MAC brethern at BALLS or even the other notable drinking schools at Terra Haute or Bloomington. After reading the posts I googled Indiana Excise Police who have been pretty brutal here in Muncie and found a few articles from this year.

134 in one weekend in the big 3 http://www.ibj.com/indiana-excise-police-arrest-134-in-co...

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2014/08/24/india.../

That was down in Muncie from the week before where they arrested 88

24 in a day in Terra Haute http://wibqam.com/news/articles/2014/sep/22/indiana-excis.../ IN a seperate weekend Terra Haute made a splash with 235 https://www.newsbarb.com/2013/08/26/excise-officers-arres.../

Little 500 at Bloomington is always bad but 235 is a new record http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/excise-poli...

I assume the number cited in OHIO are the same arm of government as Indiana's Excise Police.

I was told at a liquor store as the clerk looked out the window and saw my 14 year old to put the beer in the trunk as the Excise Police would pull me over out of the lot if they saw a minor in the car and the alcohol was observed going into the passenger compartment. SOmething is out of control

On the subject of Tailgreat....I tried to park my motorcycle under the apple tree by the Bobcatattack tailgate but was denied access as i did not have a pass. OH well. Had to go over by the med school. Was told I needed to have a pass to park in the Motorcycle parking. 5 bucks. Paid it and took an entire parking space rather than leave it in MCycle parking. Asshole fan challenged me and told me I was selfish and should move it before he ran over it. I took his plate number and took a picture of him and the truck as I told him If I was going to pay I was going to use the whole space. Not like it would hurt for Athletics to provide a few spaces for folks on bikes who could squeeze into smaller spaces at a reduced rate and lessen the impact on parking.

Selective enforcement lesson #2

A Columbus cop tailed me for 5 miles yesterday I think because he saw me with a phone in my hand when pulling out of work. I was punching the "Go" button on GPS before I hit the road. Guess the rest of Columbus was quiet at that moment.

To me. it was business as usual in the tailgating area.

It was nice to see punchcard park being put to use. With action on all 4 corners, it looked like a football game was going on.
Kind of felt this way as well. But, we were fairly late arrivals. The beer gardens were a big hit for a few in my group.
Based on your assessments, I'm going to have to try to pop in to the beer garden areas beforehand. I'm just happy we have another perfect forecast on tap!

As a Libertarian-leaning individual, I find this to be humorous in a macabre sort of way. Welcome to the New World Order; Long Live Big Brother! Imagine both Court & Union Streets annexed into university property...
