Ball State, Central Michigan and the beat goes on with the third straight homecoming loss in front of a large crowd of many one and done fans. Too bad we cannot give these fans something to want to watch the Bobcats another time in Athens or a roady when the Bobcats are at InfoCision or at Dix.
With fans spending $35 on the ticket and booking hotel rooms a year in advance I highly doubt its a bunch of one and done fans this Saturday. Its not like a Broadway show where if its not great they won't be back to see another performance. The football game is only one part of the OU homecoming weekend experience.

Well, if we have huge (for us) crowd, it's sure an opportunity to play real well and convince a lot of people that we actually have a football team.

Gotta wonder how often we can get the real big crowds and not capitalize and still get good-sized crowds.

Still, with Sprague's accuracy and arm strength, if I was a DC I'd concentrate on stopping Ouellette and dare Sprague to beat me through the air.
Bingo.

Winner.

If I'm BG (or any future opponent for that matter), I put 8 in the box and BEG us to try to air it out.

I'm inclined to think that after the CMU game, defensive coordinators will try what they did, which is pretty much exactly the opposite. They put man-on-man on each wide receiver, plus a safety to provide double coverage to make sure Ohio couldn't get an air attack going, and left only 6 in the box, and dared Ohio to run.
The word has gotten out about Cochran and every team so far has at least doubled him. At CMU Sprague tried to drop one in over Cochran's shoulder when he was tripled and just missed.

I expect BG to give a lot of looks like they're loading against the run then back off to lure Sprague into throwing into coverage.

I see no reason to think we will score more than 30, and no reason to believe we'll hold BG to fewer than 40.

So,

Ohio 39
BG 38

Crowd 26,544

Go Bobcats

Prediction...

BIG Crowd
BIG Loss

Numbers are irrelevant.

And RS is right. Another big crowd doesn't mean people are "excited"...it's more about tailgating, socializing, etc. My observation over the last several years (as season tickets and crowds have grown) is that less and less people really care all that much about the game. Honestly, some of the new fans in my section might be able to name 2 players. It's more just a social event. I suppose I shouldn't be bothered by it as it means we're getting better crowds...but it does irk me at times too. Perhaps we have all become too satisfied with the status quo of this program.
I posted something similar to this in the bball board. I noticed the exact same thing. Students especially now just go to socialize not to cheer or watch. I first noticed in high school because we would get maybe 100 in the student section and 10 would cheer. I thought it would change in college but it really hasn't. Only the really popular chants like "ou oh yeah" get everyone into it
