Bowling Green so far this year has proven to be a very high octane offense with a very shaky defense. Our offense will have the opportunity to hopefully score some points and move the ball but do you think that they can keep up with BGs scoring?

S/n: that kid Roger Lewis for Bowling Green was all but committed last year remember him coming on his visit. He's had an excellent year for the falcons thus far looks like we missed another one on the recruiting trail.

Several collective groans from the Tower side before halftime. The only upside is that our kicking/punting game will be better than the last time BG was in Athens.

BG wins 38-14

The kicking game is sure to be better then the last time the Falcons made a visit. 2x0=? though.

I'm an outlier here, but I see this team looking much better this week with #45 back, Wells back, some other CB changes, Papi White back, and even taking into account the DL injuries. So, with due respect for BG's offense and total disregard for their defense, I predict:

OHIO 45
BG Normal School 40

Attendance: 26,044 -- setting an all time record.

I agree attendance will set the record this weekend with over 26,000 and bobcats will come through with a 24-17 Win

EDIT: Just saw on Twitter there're only 1000 tickets left for the game. This is going to be a fun atmosphere.

I love your optimism....but holding BG to 17 points?!?!

We have a better chance of going to the Final Four in hoops!

haha yeah I have no real reason for why we'll only give up 17. Just a gut feeling and optimism. I really do think we'll get the record though. As long as the weather is nice.

In all seriousness, are you all predicting a big crowd because of the weather or because it's homecoming or because people are excited about Bobcat Football or some other reason?

Dude - only 1,000 tickets left. And all three you mention. Most students and parents go by "habit" (and leave at halftime by "habit"). Alums come due to loyalty and pride, not necessarily "excitement".

A serious question: will the authorities allow 26,000 for attendance? I recall reading somewhere after the New Mexico State game last year that the max allowed attendance, with standing room only considerations, was reached at that game at somewhere over 25,000. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Prediction...

BIG Crowd
BIG Loss

Numbers are irrelevant.

And RS is right. Another big crowd doesn't mean people are "excited"...it's more about tailgating, socializing, etc. My observation over the last several years (as season tickets and crowds have grown) is that less and less people really care all that much about the game. Honestly, some of the new fans in my section might be able to name 2 players. It's more just a social event. I suppose I shouldn't be bothered by it as it means we're getting better crowds...but it does irk me at times too. Perhaps we have all become too satisfied with the status quo of this program.

I honestly have no clue what to expect. Before the season I predicted a loss, and expected a big loss, yet BG has shown some weakness on defense that I didn't anticipate. Meanwhile Ohio's defense hasn't been as good as I expected, and the offense hasn't been coming along quite as fast as I expected. The two probably net out, I guess.

Meanwhile the oddsmakers opened the book with Ohio as a 2 point favorite, and the bettors moved the line to about 3 1/2 points in favor of BG, and now the money is apparently coming in on the side of Ohio, and the gap closed to 1.5 points in favor of BG.

I'm inclined to think it will be a close game, and a high scoring game. I'm thinking the score will be something like 35-31. The oddsmakers apparently agree, as I see that the over/under is at 63.

Given that Peden has been a friendly place to play, I guess I'll go with Ohio to win, by 35-31, with attendance of 24,257.

If I'm BG (or any future opponent for that matter), I put 8 in the box and BEG us to try to air it out.

I'm inclined to think that after the CMU game, defensive coordinators will try what they did, which is pretty much exactly the opposite. They put man-on-man on each wide receiver, plus a safety to provide double coverage to make sure Ohio couldn't get an air attack going, and left only 6 in the box, and dared Ohio to run.

I was at the CMU game and it was another game where the amount of separation between CMU receivers and our DB's was a concern. It was common to see a pass caught with no Bobcat defender within 3-5 yards. With a lot of cushion by our DBs and modest pass rush, CMU's QB (who was not a threat to run) was able to pick us apart.

Conversely we had only a few plays where we had any separation with our receivers. Landon Smith and Brendan Cope could not get open anytime. Most of our passes thrown were deep sideline routes, deep middle to Chase or flat passes to Daz. Very few 5-10 yard calls down the middle. A few of those were well executed. One to Chase and one to our Mangen.

Frustrating to watch this team at this point of the season.

Ball State, Central Michigan and the beat goes on with the third straight homecoming loss in front of a large crowd of many one and done fans. Too bad we cannot give these fans something to want to watch the Bobcats another time in Athens or a roady when the Bobcats are at InfoCision or at Dix.

Build the win on homecoming and they will come....back again and again!

BG struggles to establish a running attack and is forced to gain yardage through the air--enough to stop the Bobcats with a 35-27 score.

We see our first fake punt as our punting speedster brings the crowd to their feet as he races left and down the sideline for a big gainer.

Interesting. For this week however I would expect things to be a little different with Ouellette in the backfield. Though I suppose the real issue could be the offensive line. CMU may have determined that the o-line couldn't generate enough push to create an effective running game...regardless of the ball carrier.

Still, with Sprague's accuracy and arm strength, if I was a DC I'd concentrate on stopping Ouellette and dare Sprague to beat me through the air.
