Thanks for the bad link. Likely supported your ongoing claim that that somehow "supporting" both to$u and OHIO somehow is in the best interest of OHIO. Made me think of an advertising pitch from the past. For me - "I'd rather fight than switch".........

eh... you're both wrong. It was more than 40% full, but there sure as hell weren't 18 or 19k there either. There were tons of empty seats. 19k with a pretty much empty hill means that seats would have been at a premium. definitely not the case.

When I said 40% full I was talking about the wing where the visiting fans sit. As for the hill, you can get way more than 1200 on that hill.

Like it or not, a ton of students would rather watch OSU beatdown Rutgers than sit in Peden for 3.5 hours and watch MACtion. All I'm saying is give that segment (which is larger than any of us want to believe) the opportunity to do both.

The question for me would be is watching Ohio Football second on their list? I would say it is not for the vast majority. It would be a good data point to have I'm just not sure how you get it.

Like it or not, a ton of students would rather sit around drink beer with their friends and watch any game that is on TV. Maybe Victory Hill should be turned into a gaint beer garden.

I don't like it. And I don't see any evidence to prove your "point". We have a great student attendance this year, and the last couple years. And why "give that segment", to whatever degree it might exist, More opportunities to either remain, or become "turncoats"/"dualists"??? If anything, your proposition would either create more opportunities for that to happen, actually support any ongoing and future diluted level of support. ANYTHING that encourages support for to$u, by anyone "purportedly" promoting OHIO, is a detriment to OHIO. I have said that many times on here, and I cannot see Anyway you can change my mind about that.

You're right, the student attendance has been great and generally always is. The question I have is: does the student attendance alone justify additional seating to be built? I would say for games like homecoming and the home opener, yes, but it's going to look awfully bare come November.

Each side of the original stadium - 7176
Each of the wings - 2464
Each side of the Phillips Club - 544
Each side of handicap spots - 36
Tower - 814

If my math is right, that is 21254. Add in the hill, the Touchdown Club and the press box seating and you have somewhere in the neighborhood of 24,000. Until someone does a FOI request for the number of actual season tickets sold, we'll continue to just be guessing.

Saw in the paper today that Michigan is slashing what it charges students for football game season tickets by 35 or so percent - hoping to counter a dropoff in student attendance of some 6,000 per game.

Recently the WSJ ran a story on how some "power" programs are very worried about drops in student attendance and students who come but leave after half-time. At Alabama there is now a drawing each game for a semester of free tuition. Administrators worry that if students don't become fans while in school, they are less likely to become fans - and supporters - later.

Many of those standing in the north end are actual seat holders who watch parts of the game from down there. I know I do from time to time (you can only get up and down so many times in those chair backs on the 50 before it gets old).
