Finally figured out who this poster is - the same guy who estimates the crowds for the annual Halloween block party. Almost full? Really - how about 40% full at best.
Hey, I sit near midfield. It's not like I'm walking around checking out how each section looks. It looked that way from my perspective...
40%? That is disingenuous at best. It was at least 18K - prolly close to 19K. Tell me where 8K more would have fit?
eh... you're both wrong. It was more than 40% full, but there sure as hell weren't 18 or 19k there either. There were tons of empty seats. 19k with a pretty much empty hill means that seats would have been at a premium. definitely not the case.
We gotta get this to a better science. So - where would an additional 8K, 9K, whatever you think open capacity was have sit? Start with the hill - how many is a full hill? I say 1,200 MAX
OK - here is the science.
Each side of the original stadium - 7176
Each of the wings - 2464
Each side of the Phillips Club - 544
Each side of handicap spots - 36
Tower - 814
If my math is right, that is 21254. Add in the hill, the Touchdown Club and the press box seating and you have somewhere in the neighborhood of 24,000. Until someone does a FOI request for the number of actual season tickets sold, we'll continue to just be guessing.
