With each day the forecast for Tuesday grows more dire. I honestly have to consider missing this. high of 23 is the last I saw. Who knows what gametime temps will be.

My links to actual product pages are not working, sorry. AT THE Carhartt site click on MEN the Insulated bibs/coveralls.

Any Carhartt outlet should also have good cold weather boots.

Layer up underneath.

Will 1 team have an advantage over another with this weather forecast?
Thoughts?

The team with the most recruits from Florida or from Ohio/Illinois and points north?

I'm okay with playing in the cold only if it snows. If it's going to be bad make it as bad as possible and give me something to do like make snowballs.

Glancing at the recruits, NIU has far fewer from Florida/Texas/California/Georgia, and far more from Michigan/Wisconsin/Minnesota/Illinois. As an outlier from the rest of the MAC footprint, and in an area with no other G5 teams, they seem to really dominate recruiting of the northern states.

Have to think that this will likely be the coldest game in Athens??? Temple the day after Thanksgiving was cold, but not in teens.

west side...no way it is the coldest in Athens. i sat through a 6-5 game (or 2-0 or something like that) back in the late 60s or 70s and it was way colder than what it will be this week. Someone help me with who we played...?!?!? Was it UC?

Sorry to say i won't be making the trip from cincy.

Casper, if it was colder than this game is expected to be, it must have been in the 1974-1978 period when I was out of the area. This will be if the forecasters are right the coldest game that I can ever remember in Athens and the only one that I have missed solely because of weather.

My wife claims that a game we went to at BG the year after we graduated was colder, but I'm not sure that her memory is totally accurate. It was a cold day there and very windy . . . but it was during the day and there was at least a little solar gain. In that game, which OHIO won on a late rally, a BG defender was called for a key pass interference trying to defend Todd Snyder. A close friend who attended with us, who was a BG graduate, still claims that it was a "gift call" and that our win is tainted. I disagree! :-)

Does the 110 have gear for 10-15 degrees with 20 MPH winds?

For what it's worth, it has now started to snow in Athens. It's not coming down very heavily and it's above freezing now at 34. The forecast for tomorrow is no significant snow (perhaps a few flurries), but bitterly cold temps. Weather Bug says 18F at kickoff.

Remember that Buffalo game a few years ago? It was at night, about 25, and raining. Miserable.

I wish the game were tonight. I would love it if it were 34 and snowing. I've decided to just be really prepared and tough this out tomorrow, but it's going to suck. and hard.

Any bets on when the concessions will run out of hot chocolate?

As long as there isn't a gastly wind blowing off the Hocking I think you should be ok. I went to the ECU-UC game on Thursday and it was miserable. Seats were right where the wind blows through Paul Brown.

OCF...you may be right with your dates. I graduated in 71 (duh) and it was after that. I believe it was UC because why else would I sit in a tundra frozen Peden unless it was two teams I was really interested in.

As for that away BG game you talked about...I as there too!! Coldest day in my life with that wind blowing across the field/stadium. You have a better memory than me. I know we won but I don't remember the game at all---frozen brain cells I guess.

Bad news is no way I am going to the game this week. I will watch in the comfort of my home on the big screen though!

This gives me an idea . . . which can be dangerous. We should mic every home and bar in Athens County that is watching this game and we could have crowd noise equal to over 30,000! ;-)

That's the game that ended Mrs. BCB's interest in November night football. I'm the world's biggest proponent of playing in the elements but there has to be a limit to everything. If the forecasts turn out to be true, this will be close. Very close.

Frostbite is a definite risk. Will we see anyone with bare arms tomorrow?

1966. Marshall at Ohio. Dad's weekend. Ohio won 28-0 or 35-0. Don't remember the temp but my lips - and my dad's - were turning blue by halftime. With Ohio holding a big lead, we retreated to Gam Hall's lounge to watch the rest of the Michigan State-Notre Dame 10-10 tie.

Mike, I'm having memory fog over this game. I would have been there as I returned from the U.S. Navy in the fall of 1966. I don't remember the game. I looked it up, and it was 28-0 OHIO. Perhaps, on the student side we were in the sun and there was a good deal of solar gain that day. I know I didn't leave early, because I would remember that kind of rare occurrence.

Here's the full OHIO-Marshall record:

Accuweather is now reporting a wind-chill tomorrow evening of 3F. If the game was played this coming Saturday, according to Accuweather, it would be a sunny afternoon with a high of 47. I've noticed this a pattern a lot with mid-week November games. Makes another conference, even C-USA, look appealing.

This seems like a reasonable question to me. Obviously, at some point the game would be cancelled due to the cold... Happens somewhat regularly for high school games in NEO. Usually the standard is "if school is closed, the game is off" but sometimes the games will even be cancelled when school is open. Usually it is snow that causes this but every once in awhile it is the cold.
