...The only calls I can think Fiami might be able to legitimately squawk at: facemask on the Vick sack inside the 10, and I thought Layton may have come down out of bounds on his INT.
And I say MIGHT, because even though it wasn't clear where the facemask happened, I didn't catch who it was called on so there's no real way to check whether it was a legit call. And on the INT, McCabe actually COULD have called a safety for intentional grounding. Hendrix was still in the pocket, and the nearest receiver was 10 yards from the throw.
I agree that I didn't see the facemask, but they didn't show a replay looking for it, either. I have no reason to question it, though. I don't recall Miami protesting about it at the time.
As for Layton, he clearly came down in bounds, but yes, they might have ruled that he didn't have possession yet, and his next step was out of bounds. I thought the ruling was pretty irrelevant as it was 3rd and 10 and the INT was an effective "arm punt". The INT was a 36 yard play, from the Miami 5 to the Miami 41. Miami averaged 39 yards on punts, so had they ruled Layton out of bounds, and had Miami punted, Ohio would have probably gotten it at about the Miami 44 instead of 41, a swing of a whopping 3 yards.
