Half time adjustments.

Btw...huge play by the true frosh so it wasn't 21-0 at the half.

Just a question.. What do you think about Martin loading up with 5th year transfer seniors in year one? We had far more freshmen play today than Miami and its first year coach.

Thank God my son got into town tonight and after the first Miami TD, I had to miss the rest of the first half. Did watch the second half and I am very happy for this team and staff on the win. They really did do better than i thought they would this year.

On the other hand, two points: first, why were we not ready to play in the first half? I know props to miami but seriously? A Bowl on the line? Our top rival? They with a shit record? I just don't get how you can be that flat. Second, it is true I guess our wins were pretty much over teams in the 100s. So, yes, we do need to get a lot better going forward to get anywhere near where we were a few years ago.
I think Miami had extra prep days for Ohio, which means they were not freezing their ....... last Tuesday.

Yeah, the kickoff return was the big play.

How many times, if at all, did redhawk hand it off to a running back in the last 3 qtrs? See, knowing that they'd pass about 100% of the time left us free to blitz which meant our d-backs didn't have to cover for prolonged time. If redhawk had any kind of running game except about the nation's worst, maybe it's different. I see no joy in struggling to win against a bad team. Ten years in and this is it?

Grobe woulda won this game by ple-enty.

The point about our qb's not doing much in the way of reads/progressions and just locking on one receiver (or, at least, one side of the field) seems apt.

Four thoughts:

1) Any win over Redskinhawk is enjoyable. Always.

2) If this D can figure out how to rush the passer with only 4, it could be very, very good next year. I did love the mix of blitz packages to apply pressure.

3) The level of appreciation for me around this fine online community will increase the longer this clown sticks around. Thanks in advance, Woody. Never change.

4) Miami blows.

How bout the offensive play calling tonight too. I think that may be the first time we ran the speed option all year. It worked great too. Would love to see more of the outside running. It really worked well today.

I like Woody, he helps perpetuate the stereo type that Buckeye fans are the worst.

nice backtracking. Don't think you haven't been tracked and hacked with your wit?
Ahhh crap. You caught me. Now what?
So, why not reveal your alma mater? How sensitive are you about doing so?

Same with grad year?

Could have seen more earlier, but, need to be careful with Vick's knee. I still catch my breath when he plows into a tackler.

After tracking the increasingly sad score updates at the hoops game last night, I was pleasantly surprised with the comeback and listened to the last half of the 4th after the basketball game. It may not get us into a bowl, but at least we can end the year on a positive note with the comeback win. Any time we can beat Miami, it's a good day!

Reading the Miami board is interesting this morning. As expected some are complaining about the ref's calls last night. Please, it doesn't matter who the school is, if you are the home team you should NEVER complain about the officials. Of course there can be exceptions to this rule. That would apply to Eastern Michigan and Akron who have no fans. Oh nice crowd for a mid week game, especially with the cold weather and near a holiday.

It is indisputable that the refs last night suck. Nevertheless, I didn't see any calls that I thought they didn't get right.

The only calls I can think Fiami might be able to legitimately squawk at: facemask on the Vick sack inside the 10, and I thought Layton may have come down out of bounds on his INT.

And I say MIGHT, because even though it wasn't clear where the facemask happened, I didn't catch who it was called on so there's no real way to check whether it was a legit call. And on the INT, McCabe actually COULD have called a safety for intentional grounding. Hendrix was still in the pocket, and the nearest receiver was 10 yards from the throw.

Nice recovery in the second half. Wish it hadn't been necessary but since it was the Bobcats responded. Not going to look a gift horse in the mouth but that was some pretty crappy time management and play calling any Miami after the first missed field goal.

One might say we were lucky....or one might say the better team won. Regardless it was a nice finish to the regular season.

I agree that I didn't see the facemask, but they didn't show a replay looking for it, either. I have no reason to question it, though. I don't recall Miami protesting about it at the time.

As for Layton, he clearly came down in bounds, but yes, they might have ruled that he didn't have possession yet, and his next step was out of bounds. I thought the ruling was pretty irrelevant as it was 3rd and 10 and the INT was an effective "arm punt". The INT was a 36 yard play, from the Miami 5 to the Miami 41. Miami averaged 39 yards on punts, so had they ruled Layton out of bounds, and had Miami punted, Ohio would have probably gotten it at about the Miami 44 instead of 41, a swing of a whopping 3 yards.

the one question I have on a call was delay of game by the defense. Would anyone be able to explain that one.

Someone posted that the defense was calling out snap counts.

Defensive delay of game can be caused by a couple things:

-defensive lineman messes with ball at line of scrimmage.

-defense barks snap cadences to disconcert. This penalty was also called against NIU in our game with them.
