With Akron Kent being rescheduled to accommodate the Kent Buffalo reschedule, this will be the only MAC game that night.

I would like a win, so maybe we get a bid to the Cialis I Ain't Impotent Anymore Bowl.

I would love to see us take all of the frustration of this season out on the Chicken Hawks.

That would bring me joy.

Of course they still suck. But this year they've sucked just enough to lose. They've lost three by a TD (EKU, Cincy, CMU), one game by 8 pts (Buffalo) and two by ten (Akron, NIU). So they're not that far off from having six to eight wins.

That said, they're giving up 200 yds a game on the ground, so Oullette & Vick could have a HUGE night. They're also giving up 239 yds a game in the air. Chase Cochran could make his last regular season appearance for Ohio something special.

We are playing our best ball of the year in November with Vick back under center. Should help us get past Miami and justify us for that 6th MAC bowl team.

Pataskala, you are right on with your summary of Miami's season. They have been "in" most every game, and could very well have a much better record. Ohio will need to play as well as we did against NIU, or better, to get out of there with a "W". I think this young team will be ready to go, and will be surprised if we don't play very well.

I am sitting at a desk no less than about 10 miles from Oxford right now and the suction is almost unbearable. Luckily my OU mugs and mini football helmet are help to keep it at bay.

This will be bigger task than if we beat NUI.
A win would tell me that the team hasn't given up.

In addition to the injuries, Blair Brown will have to sit out the first half because of his targeting fowl in the 3rd Q vs NIU. When he gets in, I hope he's ready to redeem himself.

Hopefully Mr. Vick learned from the NIU game and subsequent film fest that when your athleticism gets you out of trouble and you have a full head of steam going towards the line of scrimmage that he has learned to keep on hoofing it. Forget the pass altogether when being flushed--positive yardage and first downs and ball control are your most important responsibility. Missed a sure first down in Q1 only needing 3 yards that resulted in a missed field goal and on first down after a great defensive play tried sticking the ball into coverage and the pick resulted. Run Vick run!

Hindsight is 20/20. Vick said exactly as much immediately after the game.

Vick, on the flaws in the offense:
"Just not executing on third downs enough. I think we had a couple of third and shorts and we just didn’t execute them. For the most part I think we played a complete game besides maybe three plays coming in right after the half where we made them fumble, then I threw that pick. I think that was a big drive for them because they obviously got points off of that drive. We can’t have turnovers, obviously, and that’s why we lost the game.”

On his interception:
"I scrambled. I should have either ran or thrown the ball away and just accepted that the defense won on that play.”

I'd like to see some of what Minn was running against Neb yesterday. Trips to the left, TE on the right, so there were basically no defenders on the right side of the field. They then faked the handoff to the RB who was going left and the QB took off to the right. They ran that two or three times and got big gainers every time. It's the first video here: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/video?gameId=400547966

Something they saw on film. Pelini's D sometimes is without discipline. That play should never work against good backside contain. We could practice it, run it and if that one guy stays disciplined Albin becomes an idiot. Because a play works against Nebraska means nothing about it working against Miami. Who knows, we might see Ohio run a naked bootleg if they see the opening. I hope they are not running something just because it worked against Nebraska.

Kind of shocking to watch that defense, really. Someone in every defense has to have responsibility for contain. It could be a DB over there, or the OLB, or even the DE, but someone has to contain. For Nebraska, the DE and OLB both crash in, and there is no DB over there.

That kind of a defensive breakdown is most likely a symptom of another problem. I didn't watch the game, but I'm guessing that Minnesota was being very successful with their power running game. The Nebraska players were then compensating by cheating over to the strong side of the field, inviting Minnesota to run the other way.

That's the key to good offense at any level. You find a key play, or plays, that you execute very well, and you defy the other team to stop it. When they cheat over to try to stop it, you make them pay by hitting the other openings that they leave behind.

OHIO had a similar formation, I believe on the direct snap to the back and subsequent first down and well designed gadget. But it looked like an option to the right would have been difficult for NIU to defend as well. Perhaps the Minn success will be the further development of that OHIO formation.

A question for ESPN gurus like anorris: Will I be able to watch OHIO-Redchicken on my iPad using the WatchESPN app from Maine on Tuesday? I will be at my daughter's house in Portland; she has wifi but no TV, so I can't watch it via cable. If I can't watch the game on my iPad, I will need to find a sports bar, which I've done in the past in Portland. Advice please.

I would guess that you will not be able to watch it on the iPad without obtaining a login ID from your Cable provider, however, if you contact your cable provider, they might be able to set you up with a temporary login id. It's worth a shot.

In other news, I note that this game opened as a pick-em, but Ohio is now favored by 1.5pts.

Last Tuesday, in a similar situation in Omaha, I found a Sports Bar. It was some kind of ladies night which somehow made asking for the Ohio game on a TV easier. They wound up playing it on the biggest or main screen.

L.C. and Bcat2,

First, I have an ID from TWC and I've used the iPad to watch games via other folks wifi before and it's worked. My question is really whether since the game is on a ESPN cable channel whether it will be blocked from WatchESPN. It seems to me in the past that sometimes games on a "regular" ESPN channel are not available on WatchESPN but that other times that they are. In Portland in the past, I've had good luck finding a sports bar that'll show OHIO games, but I'd prefer to watch this game at my daughter's house, if possible.

Thoughts from the Miami Board.

MUHawk84

OU's QB looks like he can give Miami's D fits....I think it will be a high scoring affair, one I plan on being there for!

Ohio U. sucks so much they are pulling down all this cold air from Canada.

Miami's top tackler is #24 S Heath Harding, their second leading tackler is #27 DB J. Jones who is not listed on this weeks depth chart. Harding did not get 88 tackles playing pass defense. Harding needs to be careful about his run support as Chase Cochran will want to end his MAC play with his signature 40+ yard catch.
