This is pretty sad. Kent is a good size school. They look like a FCS program right now. The Cats have been merciful with the play calling--this score could be way worse.
This is how bad we were from 1984-1993 and then again in the late 1990s.
We were essentially competitive with Burke and dreadfully mediocre with Cleve. I feel it didn't get embarrassing until the Lichtenberg era.

It was just one play, but it makes to wonder if Dennis should have been returning kicks all year with as fast as he is.
Did you miss the punt return for a TD?

Cleve dreamed about being mediocre. They were horrendous. Have you forgotten the game when he used on onside kick on the opening kickoff?

Lichtenberg's teams were only slightly better but were not embarrassing. We just couldn't find a decent QB.

Dennis wasn't the return man on the punt so I didn't include that play among the plays that indicate Dennis should return kicks.

According to Albin in multiple press conferences, he’s been banged up most of the year.

In Lichty's 4th season, Ohio got to 4 wins and came close to what would have been a dramatic comeback against WMU. But in his 5th season the bottom fell out and the result was the 0-11 team that Grobe inherited.

Dennis reminded me of Scott Mayle on that play, with blazing speed. I hope he stays healthy the rest of the year. That speed could be useful in the regular offense as well as kick returns. I think we'll see other teams giving him some cushion so they don't get beaten long.

I think Ohio is definitely doing all the things right. They have been getting better each game, and the last two games show just how far this Ohio team has come from week 1. Each of the last three games will take a good game for Ohio to win, but Ohio is certainly capable of winning each of them. Going 2-1 down the stretch is probably the most likely outcome, but 3-0 is what they need, and it starts with EMU.

As bad as the Bobcats were in the PapaL and Cleve years, I don't recall them ever looking as inept as the Flashes last night. That's one bad football team.

Good to see Tyus, McNaboe, Adonis, and Dennis in there. We seem to be getting healthier.

Cleve had a winning conference record in 1988 and gave a tough WMU team a good battle on the road during the last game of the season. I actually thought they were turning things around, but I never had that feeling at all through the Lichty period.

You don’t remember the 5-0 loss at home to a 3-8 Utah State team then.

For those who didn't get enough of last night's game, it's on again at 1:30 ET this afternoon on ESPNU.

60 yards passing, 50 yards rushing for the whole team.

That sure helps the defensive stats - we're currently Top 25 (I think 23) in yards per game. (#2 in the MAC, #1 rush D)

I believe that I do remember that game. Wasn't it in a steady downpour? That OHIO team was way better than what I saw last night out of the Flashes. I agree that back in the day we had some bad teams. But, they were usually halfway competitive, and found increasingly creative ways to lose games, sometimes snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. That team last night on the other side of the ball was downright horrible. After every sack and TFL play by the Bobcats you could see in their body language that it was kind of what they expected. They had no guts, grit or determination to try to overcome their lack of talent. Overall, the worst D-1 team I think I've ever seen.

As the announcers repeated many times, Kent had a 4th team walk on QB starting for them. That explains some of the offensive woes last night.

I wondered if that was the case early in the year. I've listened to several post game & weekly press conferences and had missed that.

Yeah, they are bad but that can't be overstated.

Yes, I was there. Driving, cold rainstorm and horribly muddy field. Not a good memory.

With an offensive line like that, I am surprised they aren't on their 25th QB of the season.

I remember that monsoon like weather. How many times did we get inside the 10 but could not score?
