There is no doubt that Rourke has done well at Indiana. In fact, it is safe to say that he increased the NIL money that will be funneled into the portal next year. "We could find the next Rourke! We need to pony up the $$$!"

On the other hand, the many other Ohio starters who went into the portal have not done nearly as well. Cross, also at Indiana, has probably done the next best. Some of the others play a little in most games as a backup, while others play rarely, or not at all. Then, add in the players who, in the portal version of musical chairs, were unable to find a new scholarship to replace the one they voluntarily gave up, and you have a warning sign to those considering jumping into the portal in the future.

I expect to see less players in the portal next year, and in particular, less backups hoping to find PT elsewhere. On the other hand, I expect the best players in the portal to demand richer paychecks.
Worth noting, Kurtis received $0 in NIL. He's Canadian.

I'm sure they figured out a way to get around in it. Probably a nice offshore account in Halifax under the name Rurtis Kourke, but from what I heard - he went because of Cignetti, and it was his best offer/chance to play.

Are you sure about that? There’s NIL merchandise available for him all over the internet . Even Published articles about his NIL at Ohio is available . I don’t get it.

I don’t either really, but Canadian athletes are unable to profit from name, image, and likeness (NIL) in the United States due to F-1 student visa regulations.

There was a bill trying to change it, but I don’t know where that went.

Kindof thinking out loud, but if you marry an American citizen you get a green card ( this process takes time).Could that affect their status as far as receiving NIL money?

Not the one where he played to receive the 2024 Heisman?

I think I saw that he’s number 5 on chance of winning that right now after 6 games. He might win it if he keeps it up against harder competition that’s coming up this season. It’s a good story so far.

He will say Indiana. That's just the standard. Just Like Armani Rogers would have said Ohio instead of UNLV.

Quick Google will show you he’s collecting cash! And he’s collecting quite a bit of it. Fact is, big bro going to have lil bro to pay more for the parents Christmas gift this year.

We now live in a world where Indiana football is ranked higher than Alabama.

If this is true, Kurtis is making more than his brother. He is valued at 1 million. https://www.on3.com/nil/rankings/player/nil-100 /

All I know is, I am pretty excited to see what he does when he comes back. They made it sound like a surgery that will get him back quickly.

Sounds like a fairly uncomplicated surgery from what I read. He basically ripped his nail off - but they had to put screws in it to make sure his nail grows back appropriately.

Doctor said 7-10 days and he should be able to grip a football. That's pretty bananas considering your whole damn thumb is what is basically balancing the entire football.

I hope it doesn't effect his throwing any, though I'm sure it will. I'm actually just hoping he doesn't have a bad game and then doubt starts creeping in. He's still OUr boy.

The photo of the injury occurring is somewhat unpleasant. You don't imagine an injury occurring like this.

I love that he’s showing he can play at the highest level but on the inside, I cry every Saturday.

If (big if) he's invited to Heisman weekend, I hope he has the class to invite Frank and Tim to attend. Not certain he does.
