Well, App State is awesome this year. For example, today they… uhhh…uhhh…beat Lindenwood 20-13. That's not even a joke. Lindenwood. I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of them.
Lindenwood?

Is that a high school?
they had a really good ceramics program until a few years ago when one of their coeds was killed in a kiln explosion.
She was a pretty sophomore from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

My advice to friends of the late coed from Indiana is to start drinking heavily!

No talk of Charlotte's thrilling 42-35 win over an FCS team that went 6-6 last year?

Wonder how long all those OU donors are gonna stick by Albin?

No mention of the 400+ yards Monmouth's QB passed for?

Looking at their schedule I think they’re looking at 3-9 AT BEST, with 2-10 or 1-11 more likely. They have USF next week and end the year with GEORGIA and Tulane. Brutal.

The Rice Coach is a cool story. Rice is his first scholarship program he’s been associated with. Ever. As an assistant or HC. Played college baseball not football. Yet he has Rice out to 3-1 record.

That 1970's era veer option offense Rice was running in the first half would get them stomped by any power conference opponent.

Neither team was all that to be honest. Happy for Rice to win a few games being overshadowed by the U of H in that town and the academics standards the Owls have.

Some of the natives are getting restless at UNCC.  From their fan board:

"I am very disappointed with this team and coaching staff. We have been manhandled by both Rice and App who have new coaches. If we are at the top end of NIL, we cannot evaluate talent and missed on a coach again. You do not get 3 yrs now with the portal."

And another poster:

"I told those in this forum LONG ago that Albin was recruiting FCS level players but no one would listen to me. I kept hearing 'he’s a winner' and 'we got a real coach' and that he would just out-coach everyone.

"Well a few things hold true at this point..

Those players are indeed FCS level
Albin ain’t much without his Ohio coordinators
We may lose every FBS game we play this year
At least Biff’s staff won 3 games in year 1, and 5 games in year 2, as much as you didn’t 'like' him/them.
Biff wasn’t Saban but he had an eye for talent that’s why 14 players from last year are currently on Power 4 rosters.
We sure could use Purdie right about now. Remember when he tweeted, 'Hire Brew'?"

There are, of course, other posters who are basically giving him a pass in year one, but the general mood appears to be that this team isn't quite living up to expectations.

You may be right, but of all the AAC teams that go bowling, there's a good chance three of those teams will use a version of said offense.

Couldn't help but check in on a couple of plays from last night's game. Caught a nice TD run by the Rice QB right before halftime where former Bobcat LB Shea Taylor looked to have him stopped behind the line of scrimmage but missed the tackle. The QB then reversed field and went in for the TD. The announcer mentioned how Charlotte's safety and other LB over pursued, allowing the QB to go untouched into the end zone. The other LB was another former Bobcat, Kadin Schmitz.

They are ugly, but if you want to see real butt-ugly uniforms look at those worn last week by the Idaho Vandals. They kind of reminded me of what you might expect to see on a middle school football team.

It’s time to cut ties with that group and find some new donors. Hopefully the new AD recognizes that.

Albin's team is like a 4 TD underdog this week.

Good luck with that.

I do love me some Vandy, but they're about to go on a hell of a stretch with 5 of their next 7 games ranked in the top 20.

@ #10 Alabama
#13 LSU (4-1)
#19 Mizzou (5-0)
@ #9 Texas

Auburn (bad)
Kentucky (bad)

@ #15 Tennessee

Definitely going to be better than Phils projected 5 wins, but they're in for a tough road. 7-5 wouldn't be crazy. Probably looking at 8-4.

With the murderer's row gauntlet they play, 8-4 should be well respected.

They will still get screwed on a bowl selection being the smallest school in the SEC by a bunch, even though they have sold lots of bowl tickets in the past. Even for the Texas Bowl in Houston. They will get a bowl in Charlotte or Memphis or Birmingham. Or the one five miles from their campus (for the third time).
