. . .Ya, things always work out better in life if you never take a chance at greatness. Why go work for Microsoft when Frognet is hiring? Who cares that Saks Fifth Avenue wants you, you could be the best manager the Athens Elder Beerman has ever seen.
What a bogus analogy. Would Big Ben have ever been found by the NFL if he had sat on the bench for four years at Alabama? That would be a likely prospect if he had been discovered by one of the elite schools and had accepted their offer instead of Miami's.
Matt Cassell was found, and I don't believe he ever started a game at USC.

And for the record, who was the last Ohio Bobcats QB to make it to the NFL?
Yeah, but who's the last QB we had where everyone said "Man, this guy is NFL material?" but just didn't make it because he wasn't seen? (Answer: Never). If a quarterback at Ohio is good enough, he will be found. TT broke every damn school record we had. He was talented and fun to watch but no one had any delusions that he had a career at the next level.
I wouldn't say no one...

DCF--I think that there were a few posts speculating about TT getting drafted or getting NFL tryout. You have to remember that there's a solid core here which has a higher assessment of our talent/program than is objectively warranted. Apparently, they watch a lot of high school ball but little NFL or top level college.
Pure baloney, Monroe. There was a brief period when TT seemed to have it all together and it was reasonable to speculate on that type of future. OHIO has certainly had more NFL draftees and free agent signees than at any time in school history over the last several years. It was clear by TT's senior season that he was in no way NFL material, and I don't believe anyone continued such speculation. Since you are the king of arbitrary time frames, why don't you stick the period of time beginning with the Brain Fart at Miami? It is the one you'd like all the rest of us to concentrate on! ;-)

OCF--Even at his best, anyone who thought that TT was pro material was dreaming. I get no pleasure from writing that. I'd love to say that our qb is prime pro material. Even thinking that TT was pro prospect--and you admit there were a few posts that way--was not real foot-ball savvy. Gotta be more realistic about the level of skill.

Do not let this diminish in your eyes my chances of signing a contract with the Cavaliers as the playoffs approach.

The only posts I recall along those lines were in his Sophomore year, and as you will recall, I posted at the time that we needed to see how his Junior and Senior year ended up before reaching any sort of conclusion. In any case, unlike any other recent Ohio QB, he did actually sign a free agent contract, albeit in the CFL, and he was a pro for a few days.

Based on what I've seen, I'd bet that JB will take over the reigns from JTB his redshirt junior year, and has two great years. Even though tOSU has both Mr Ohio and Mr Florida football coming in next year, my guess is Mr Florida football ends up moving to WR, where some scouts compare him to AJ Green. This should give the starting gig to JB.

After his state final performance, if he doesn't stick with OSU, he might look at a big 12 school where he can throw 60 times a game. I think he'll stick it out at OSU though. He isn't going to mind sitting his first couple of years... I mean, he sat his freshman year at Athens High School and it turned out okay.
