The skill position players get the glory, but we know who does the work. It's time to nominate your favorite big uglies. Again, not necessarily the best, but your favorite.

Nominees
AJ Strum (seconded)
Jay Roden (seconded)
Eric Herman (seconded)
Matt Coppage (seconded)
Ken Carmon (seconded)
Mike Solominsky (seconded)
Chris Rodgers (seconded)
Mike Varone (seconded)
Don Puthoff (seconded)
Art Lewis (seconded)
Joe Flading (seconded)
Dave Shelby (seconded)
Jon Lechner (seconded)
Frank Peters (seconded)
Ron Stepsis (seconded)
Brian Bertoia
Darren Reese
Eric Davis
Ray Bloch
JJ Knabb
Dennis Thompson

I'm undecided on my nominee right now, so I'll let others make the first few picks.

This will be a tough poll to run, since you need 5 winners. I'll toss in JJ Knabb's name as well.

Matt Coppage
Could name several, but agree Coppage was very solid at guard and left tackle. One of the strongest players on the team who played hurt and was 1st Team All-MAC his senior season.

Honorable mention to Brian Bertoia (2nd Team All-Mac 1984) who has posted here with us in the past.

That would be a heck of a line...Peters by the way was on the 69 team and was drafted by the Jets.

I'd like to nominate Joe Flading. You just knew he would be so dependable and solid every game.

can't exclude Ken Carmon...multiple all MAC tackle, All-American (at least honorable mention if not more as I remember), OU Hall of Fame member, and a member of the 1968 MAC Championship team.
