Ball State just identified a high profile HC candidate...Ryan Day.

Makes my day. Good to see the 20million dollar team lose again.

What a travesty this happened after they went to the expanded playoff. It's disturbing that the loss ends up meaning almost nothing in regards to their pursuit of a national championship. Dumb.

Agreed! The OSU loss should factor into qualifying for the playoffs. Peaking at the right should mean something.

Same as TT's senior year here. Why do coaches run an offense where Read Option is featured but yet the QB doesn't run 5-6 times a game as in almost never. Defense doesn't even consider the keeper after a while.

I am still amazed that Nick Sabin pulls his starting QB in the national championship game for the back-up. With so many supposed studs going to O$U why wouldn't they have a capable running back up QB and just try smashing them for a series or two? Zero 2nd half first downs was not all because of great defense the QB play was terrible.

This second loss and to an unranked team really hurts them. Before OSU was tracking toward a 1 seed if they could win the rematch against Oregon and with a loss probably no worse than 6th or 7th. With a second loss likely looking at an 8th or 9th seed, possibly having to go on the road for the first round and probably against an SEC team rather than an easy one at home.

I'm not a OSU fan or hater. I think Day's issue has been that he built his teams with the goal of beating the SEC championship in a dome. I don't think his issue is Michigan. It's playing in bad weather. Honestly, he might be more likely to get better weather on the road than at home.

Its cold this time a year in many SEC stadiums. On Friday night it was only 34 degrees in Athens, Georgia.

Seriously? Pick 11 teams better than them on the body of work. I’ll be waiting.

Maybe because their All-American LT was out for the season and their All-Big10 Center went down for the season. It all starts up front. What is our run game without our two best linemen?

They will be the example of the benefit of NOT playing in a Title game.

You are saying that if Penn State loses the CCG against Oregon and finishes with 2 losses against OSU and Oregon they will be ranked lower than OSU who lost to Oregon and unranked Michigan? That I don't think so.

My favorite part of this CFP selection thing is when Tennessee gets told they are going on the road and only gets 3500 tickets out of 105,000 if they go somewhere like tOSU or Penn State. Expect those entitled a-holes to threaten legal action against the NCAA.

And James Franklin beat them two out of three times at Vandy with the only loss being on a ref screw-up in Knoxville in overtime so bad that the official ended up banned for life from officiating in the league. (He could have run the score up on them the next season but graciously stopped at 41 points)

I think in this case Ohio State will be ranked ahead of Penn State. Penn State would have one more win but less quality wins due to a weaker in conference strength of schedule. Ohio State also has head to head.

I have always thought past committes have cared too much about who you have beaten with respect to who you have lost to. IMO, these can't be separated and should have the same weight. It's an odd thing that is really more of a USA thing. We always reach for tiebreakers based on who you have beaten. If I were doing the MAC tiebreaker my step 1 would be "Combined conference win percentage of conference opponents" meaning the team that put up the same record against better competition overall. This is currently step 4. But instead we get typical American tiebreakers based on who won specific games that typically reward big wins and render bad losses irrelevant.

This committe seems to care a lot more about losses than past committes. Ohio State definitely has the worse loss in this comparison. I still feel very confident that Ohio State ends up ranked ahead of Penn State in this case.

From what I have seen, their biggest issue is wind and/or snow, then rain.then cold. Heck, they suddenly couldn't do anything against Northwestern in a heavy wind a couple of years ago with an NFL rookie if the year at QB and about four or five future first round WRs. This team is like some of those 1980s/1990/2000 dome NFL teams that are some of the highest scoring teams in NFL history (Oilers, Rams, Saints) but notoriously had a hard time winning in bad weather.

Lou Holtz's comment on not wanting to be physical sounded entirely correct to me. Michigan has caught OSU in the wind or snow 4 years in a row and succeeded in turning the game into a physical slugfest. Their offense clearly is not comfortable with that.

OSU's punishment for losing to Michigan? Hosting a home playoff game.

LOL

Conference Championships aren't what they used to be.

I love not having a dog in the hunt. There are still a few more "shoes to drop"! At the risk of exposing myself, I admit that I have enjoyed, not only the competitive and emotion-filled games, but the panic of the fans watching their playoff journeys turn into a slow-motion car wreck. With that said, if Ohio were so fortunate to be in the running for the G5 slot I know I am not sure how I'd feel.

Everything I dislike about Ohio Sate was in ample supply on Saturday. After the loss, and as I was driving back from a Bobcat bball win in Athens, I heard local sports radio guy (Jeff Logan) claim that the OSU program "represents everything that's good in sports," whereas Michigan represents "evil."

"We only do things the right way." This from a program that spent $20MM on players and had to cut other sports/athletes to pay for it.

My read on Ryan Day is that he has created not a "brotherhood of players" (as described by Logan), but a highly paid workforce that is too often out of synch.

I also believe Day has overhyped this one game to the extent that no amalgamation of talent can live up to expectations. In fact, in one pregame interview he stated, "For me, beating Michigan is life."

Time for Day and OSU fans to grow up.

As they say , injuries are part of the game. Folks are saying that Michigan played without their two best players. It goes both ways.

What if PSU upsets Oregon? Does that help or hurt OSU's placement in the CFP?
