This Toledo team isn’t the same type of animal it’s been the last couple years. They aren’t bad, but they’re not great either, they’re decent. They lost at Buffalo (a team Ohio blasted) and BG handed it to Toledo in the Glass Bowl. They also came one pass breakup away on a 2-point conversion to losing to EMU, the same team Ohio throttled last night. They did beat Miami but that was before Miami finally got untracked. It should be a good game but I’ll moneyline Ohio in this one and I expect Ohio to duplicate what BG just did up there to Toledo and walk out of the Glass Bowl with a big win.
As I've said in other related threads, my money is on BGSU. Who knows on any given Saturday (or Tuesday, or Wednesday), but BG is, IMHO, the best team in the MAC. Take a look at their two close loses to TAMU and PSU. And, whenever I watch them, they just pass my "eye test" as a quality football team.
I do agree with you about BG. I see much of the same thing when I watch them too. Right now, they look to be the best team in the MAC. That said, they are very beatable when they don't consistently bring it. My main question about BG though is, will they even be able to get to Detroit? Remember, they're not part of the MACtion slate this week and unlike the rest of the MAC that plays Tuesday and Wednesday, they don't play until Saturday in a trap game at Ball State (BSU has lost a bunch of very close games, home finale, playing for their fired HC, etc). They have nothing to lose, but BG sure does. But the real issue for BG playing Ball State is probably the day of the game itself, because BG then has to turn around and play Miami on a short week. Miami has essentially a bye before facing BG. Miami plays tonight and then can start prepping for BG starting tomorrow. BG can't start its Miami prep until Sunday at that earliest. This gives Chuck Martin and Miami a huge advantage leading into that game. Not to mention, Miami has been a huge thorn in BG's side over the years anyway. I just get the feeling BG is walking into a trap to close the season with the way those two games are set up. But If Ohio beats Toledo, they're going to Detroit. The question then will be who do they play? My guess is probably the winner of BG-Miami.
