Was playing golf in the OU summer golf league final tournament today and saw a couple of college age folks walking on the bike path near the 7th tee (for you old timers, that would be near the 3rd green). The young man had on an osu national championship tee shirt. I called out politely and slightly in jest to the young lady that she needed to take her boy friend up to the College bookstore to buy him a proper tee shirt. He pulled out his ear buds and I repeated my suggestion. The conversation then went like this:

Me: Did you go to ohio state?
Young man: No, I go here.
Me: Then why are you wearing that shirt? Where's your OU shirt.
Young man: I'll wear one of those when they win a national championship.

Somehow I then proceeded to hit my best drive of the year on that hole - 265 right down the middle.

I give up - these folks are beyond reason.

Yes, proud of you Alan. I've said similar things to OSU-decked-out students on occasion. My feeling is that at least in some cases though they act belligerent at the time that your words may sink in later and have an impact on behavior.

Don't you wish that for just one time he could stand inside your shoes, and just for that one moment you could be him. Then he'd know what a drag it is to see him.

Why don't win, for once, MACC. Maybe that would help.

That's the part that disturbed me most. You go here, you pay big bucks for an education and your "home" team is they. Completely baffled me. I would love for Rod to go into the annual convocation with an osu jersey on, rip it off, set it on fire and proclaim that we are OHIO with the 110 immediately busting into Stand Up and Cheer and green and white confetti dropping from the ceiling.

I'll get a little revenge. I'm a senior and my mom is an OU alum who works for OSU and she was given tickets to the Ohio State v. Hawaii game and asked me to go. I'm definitely wearing OU gear to the game.

We don't need you wearing OHIO green to the osu game, we need you wearing green and screaming your head off at peden.

That is why I believe in scheduling up to have a chance at the playoff since its so easy to make a bowl game these days. Play mainly ACC schools in the non conference schedule so we aren't competing directly against the Big Ten. Try to get Cincinnati, Marshall or Temple as a non conference home game. Florida State, Clemson, UNC, Virginia Tech on the road. A schedule that will resonate with fans and recruits.

Having seen Rod get fired up, there might have been occasions when he has entertained thinking along those lines...

In addition to the confetti drop & 110 playing, I propose a black curtain that is the backdrop be unveiled with this picture behind it.

When in grad school at O$U I wore my OHIO jacket to every home game, except one, and would sit there listening to my transistor radio more interested in the OHIO game going on at the same time. The only game I didn't go to was the Michigan game. I sold my student season tickets for more than I paid for the both of them in the first place. So, you are following in my footsteps, young man. May the Force be with you! ;-)

I think that he needs a lesson from the great Brian Wilson and friends on his attitude on shirt choices:

Haha. I concluded that all the current BA posters must be too young to remember "Positively 4th Street". I guess I'm not alone after all. For those that don't, for only vaguely do:

My next question in response to that would be whether or not they root for the Browns like half the student body. ;-)

I would support this. In fact, I'd make a donation to the University to encourage this. It could be a great fundraising event!

I like the idea a lot, but I question whether the other half of the equation in these examples would be willing to schedule us. NCAA football & basketball scheduling is such a joke to begin with in my opinion, but that's a whole new thread.

I would've suggested a "best of both worlds" scenario where you go to both the OSU & Ohio games, but that works if the Buckeyes had a noon kickoff. The OSU-Hawaii game, as of now, is a 3:30 kick.

Plus, that week's the Ohio-Marshall game. IMHO, that game is more important.

Using Bob Dylan's lyrics might be the best thing I've witnessed on this board. Positively 4th Street, awesome.

Sounds to me like you should find someone wearing OSU gear to talk some sense into before every shot you hit.
