I heard Marshall is bringing its marching band to this year's game in Athens. I think Toledo was the last visiting band. It should add to what will be an electric atmosphere that night. I am guessing that game will be an advanced sellout. With it being the first home game with the students on campus I am guessing at least 7,000-8,000 will show up.

I wonder where Marshall's band will sit?
Wait a second. There was 25,000 in the house for Idaho last year. There is only 22,000 hard seats in Peden Stadium. How is it possible to stuff another 7,000 or 8,000 fans in the stadium? 25,000 is obtained enough to justify another 3 or 4 thousand real seats in the stadium. The student side could be a whole lot bigger because that is mainly where the overflow is originating from. If it was made bigger (triple deck) with amazing concessions (Burrito Buggy on game days) more students would want to be at the stadium and stay 4 quarters. There has got to be a way to pay for a student side expansion with an amazing upgrade for the students out of the fees.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of converting concessions to local eateries. That would be a huge, huge bonus for a lot of fans. I don't see any reason a deal could not be negotiated that would benefit both the eateries & school. Bonus, Jackie-Os beer stands... How do we make this happen. The contract for vending we have has to end eventually, right?

Regarding the Marshall game, where have visiting bands sat in years past? This is certainly going to be a packed house.

The last band I've seen in there was the Toledo game in 2001. They sat in the corner where the bands usually do for Band Day. So Marshall's band would likely be going in the same spot.

Could you imagine the Burrito Buggy and O'Hooley's at the stadium for game days what the local reception for Bobcat football would be? It could be so much better down at the stadium without having to be that much bigger.

There is absolutely no reason they can't do this. They do it around here; besides the normal stadium fare, they have places (and even roaming vendors) who sell local specialty foods such as "Runza" and "Valentino's Pizza". Now, they do slash their menu options, of course, so there is just one type of "Runza", and just one kind of pizza, hamburger, if I remember correctly.

Just make the option to have a spot at the stadium available to Burrito Buggy and O'Hooley's, and charge them a fair price, and they should be able to have a win-win situation.

Regarding this, there might be a flicker of hope for local inclusion on Labor Day weekend, and it corresponds to Volleyball's Bobcat Invitational (hosting Michigan, LSU, and Xavier). Tailgate park area will have various Athens eateries/breweries offering their wares on Saturday 9/5. Story was in Sunday's Messenger and the event is called Athens Eats.........probably paid a consultant good bucks for that title.
Anyway, maybe, just maybe, it's a toe in the door for localizing specialty concessions, or at least making concessions for not including them. Good chance to see big time volleyball and check out the the local offerings.

It will be critical to evaluate local pretzel vendors.

How awesome would it be to grab a slice of GoodFellas at Peden?
