Hi all,

Since it's less than a week from the game in Idaho and no one else has come over to fill you guys in on where to go in Moscow I thought I would.

Restaurants:
The Breakfast Club- if you don't mind a wait for a great breakfast
La Casa Lopez- a good, family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant with awesome margaritas
CD's Smoke Pit- a hole in the wall BBQ place (those are always the best)
The Moscow Alehouse- great pub fare and the best burger and fries in Moscow in my opinion
Stax- this place serves big sandwiches, but it's only open between 10-4

Bars:
The Corner Club- this place has been mentioned in many articles on the best sports bars in the country including #21 in SportsIllustrated a few years ago. It's not impressive to look at but you can buy a 32 oz beer for about $4.25. It WILL be SRO though
The Garden- this is where to be if you want to sit down and relax with a drink
Champions- has a nice bar area filled with TVs and decent drink specials

The area is usually beautiful in the fall with the rolling hills of the palouse region, but fires are raging north and south of us. I would usually say go up to Coeur d' alene (about 90 miles north) and go out on the lake, but that is closer to the fires than Moscow. It still wouldn't be a bad trip though.

I hope it's a good competitive game with no injuries, and any Bobcats that make it out have a good time!

Are there any contingency plans in place to move or cancel the game if the air quality reaches unacceptable levels?

Thanks Vandal, quick question: How about Moscow Brewing? Worth making a visit during their short hours? Beer list looks great. Looking forward to making the trip.

Also, what is the tailgating situation? Active, or will the TH night kick cut into the crowd?

We play in a dome so the air quality will be mostly controlled. The only thing working against this is the doors constantly opening when fans come in.

I've never been to the Moscow Brewing Co., it must have began after I graduated.

The tailgating shouldn't take too much of a hit from the game being on Thursday, but if the air quality is bad it will probably suffer.

Vandal,

Just out of curiosity, what's the fan base like in Moscow? Is there a pretty good following for the school/team? Or do most people gravitate towards Boise State fandom given the relative remoteness and small population in the state? I also see that Washington State (Pullman, WA) isn't too far from Moscow.

So according to Frank, the Bobcats are going to stay on Eastern Time? Nice. I'm not concerned about the time change at all.

Our OL against their quality and experienced DL is something I'll be watching closely. I'll get real worried if they can stall our running game.

I think we pull off a methodical, steady victory to kick off 2015.

Wondering how Misters iPhone and Android are gonna feel about Frank saying the Bobcats will stay on Eastern Time. Unless he's mandating that all players manually change their phones to Eastern. That seems silly.

Google lists Moscow Idaho's elevation just over 2500 ft. I assumed it would be higher. That isn't that bad.

Recently it has been kind of tough to draw a big crowd because of our record over the last 15 or so years (only 3 seasons or so with 6+ wins), and because the closest sizable city is Spokane which is about 2 hours away. Boise St. hasn't taken too many of our fans, but there are a number who would rather see a college football game where they don't have to make a 12 hour round-trip. Washington St. is only 8 miles away from Moscow, but they don't steal any of our fans or students. Idaho's out-of-state tuition is actually lower than WSU's in-state tuition so we've been stealing students from them.

I just saw that we are 8.5 point favorites.
It sounds about right as this is an away game and the 1st of the season, if at home it probably would have been easily 2 touchdowns.

Not sure this qualifies, but this game has the feel of a "trap"game to me with Marshall coming up, Idaho is desperate for a win, long trip, etc. There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm, let's hope that they can keep that when things don't always go the way you want on the field.
Any ideas on the attitude of the players going into this one?

The point spread suddenly dropped a point and a half today. Any thoughts on why?

Eh, there probably wasn't a lot of betting on the game, and someone realized a home team was +8.5 to a team that had to travel a few thousand miles and play a weeknight game at 9 pm. One or two big bets could move the line.

What I think is interesting is that this site:

http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas /

has about half of the Vegas books at -7 and half at -7.5 That half point could be a huge half point for gamblers. Seeing which way that split moves (if it moves) might tell more about what the gamblers think than the 1.5 point move today.

I find it hard to believe that there is much wagering interest on this game.
It would be interesting if one could find out what the number of wagers are as well as the total amount wagered.

ESPN3 is pi$$ing me off. I'm a Uverse customer and I keep getting User Not Authorized when I try to watch something. Anyone have any ideas? espn was useless on the topic.

You have UVerse for both TV and Internet?

Basically, if a game is televised on TV, then you have to get that station to watch it online. So I cannot get games on SEC Network or ESPNU, for example. If it is an ESPN3-only broadcast, then it is based on your Internet provider.
