Time to start this thread.

Here goes:

Ohio 32, Sky-U-Mah 14

Edit: On Sunday I'll be meeting with about 20 cousins, most of whom are U of M grads, or as they say, "The U." I very badly need bragging rights. Confession: I actually learned the Minnesota fight song before the OU one, as my mother taught it to me as a toddler. No matter . . . Go OHIO!

I'll call it Ohio 13, Minnesota 10. I expect a low scoring slugfest, much like last week, but without the long passes.

Ah, the Key Logan long run. The big man motored for about 70 yards down to the Minne 3 as I recall.

I, too, was there.

Minnesota 24, Ohio 17

Just like last week this looks like a low scoring game. It would sure set up a fun next few weeks if they pull it off.

I don't see Minnesota losing this game (hope I'm wrong, of course) The team that narrowly lost to TCU will re-appear. Kent was the trap-game. UM - 27 OU - 10

Football, not hockey? Right?

Minnesota hasn't performed anywhere near their preseason expectations; whereas Ohio seems to really be coming along as a team. Ohio 30-17.

Going with Bobcats 23-17 over the Gophers. I just have a feeling a Power 5 team goes down. I watched the second half against Kent. Hideous football.

Very fast for a 6'1", 270 pound fullback.

Too bad he was not able to stay with the program. Last I heard he headed back to Youngstown and became a Rapper known as 100 Proof.

Brinker was still the star of the game:

20-17 OHIO is also what I keep thinking.

I'm hoping Vick has some success airing it out and it ends up more like 34-17.

So are we all drinking the Kool-Aid or is anyone out there willing to admit they're pessimistic about our chances? I'm excited and confident that we have a real shot at this, but certainly there must be someone here that doesn't agree.

Our real picks are in the "pick 'em" thread. These are our fun picks, what we hope will happen. In the other thread only OCF and Monroe picked an Ohio win.

As grumpy as Ohio fans get sometimes, we're obviously is a better frame of mind than Minnesota fans at the moment. Here are some of the picks from their thread, and they definitely indicate a grumpy fanbase (Note, these are only about 1/3 of the total picks - the rest are fairly normal):

Sparlimb - Minnesota 2, Ohio 0
Gophers7NatTitlesBadgers0 - Minnesota 6, Ohio 0 (3 Safeties)
Metrolax - Minnesota 3, Ohio 2
nasa35 - Minnesota 2, Ohio 0
MNGoldenGophersS1 - Minnesota 4, Ohio 2
GopherInPittsburg - Ohio 7, Gophers 3
WaterBoy - Gophers 9, Ohio 7
hungan1 - Minnesota 17 (one defensive TD), Ohio 10
Go4 - Minnesota 2, Ohio 0
amk8930 - Ohio 14, Minnesota 10
'13Gopher - Minnesota 13 (defensive td, 2 FG), Ohio 7 (Pick 6 or fumble/TD)
e.bigelow - Minnesota 3, Ohio 2
howeda7 - Minnesota 8, Ohio 7, thanks to a late safety
sjuGopher - Ohio 7, Minnesota 0
SelectionSunday - Gopher 16, Bobcat 10
mnsportsgeek - Gophers 0, Ohio 2

I'll bite. In each of the first three games, we had a 4th quarter drive that put the game out of reach. Part of that is depth, part of it is conditioning, part of it is attitude.

On the road against a good B1G defense, I don't think we'll have the depth or conditioning advantages. We might have an attitude advantage.

Still, TCU only scored 23 against Minnesota. I don't see us scoring more than 14. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Go Bobcats.

I really feel good about this one. Much better than I did before the season.

For the most part, we handled SE Louisiana and Idaho with our defense. Idaho did score and put some yardage up on us but that was basically when the game was out of hand.

Then you have Marshall. They've put up 40+ against both of their other opponents. We held them to 10. The Minnesota offense is really getting bashed hard on their board. The OC and QB are getting the brunt of it but from reading deeper it sounds like their offensive line is really banged up. If our d-line can create some pressure, I think both our LB's and DB's have shown they love creating turnovers.

On the flip side, that Minnesota defense looks good. We struggled to move the ball much against Marshall outside that final killer drive. Hopefully, we can avoid turnovers that give Minnesota good field position. At the least, I trust our offense to do that. Then if we can just get a couple big plays, we could really put our defense in a great position to limit Minnesota. I don't think the Minnesota offense wants to play from behind. If they start airing it out, I think we get some interceptions.

My biggest fear is that they come out fired up after Kent played them so tight.

I agree, which is why I called for Ohio to get 13. It's also why I phrased by question in another thread as to whether Ohio will be able to hold Minnesota under that. Ohio will not win this one with MACtion, but they might win a defensive slugfest.

This really will be a defensive battle. I can't see either team putting up 20. Special teams may very well be the difference maker. We can't miss fg's or have bad punts. We have to win the field position battle and have to seize our opportunities.

I'll add that I have very little confidence in our FG unit right now. Kicking two FGs seems like asking a lot.

If the same defense that shut Marshall down shows up Saturday, I think we have a puncher's chance. But no way am I predicting an Ohio win.

(I am perfectly happy to revisit a few of my conference picks, though. Kron gonna Kron, and WMU looks to have regressed somewhat (PJ eyeing that Illinois job a little bit early??). I think we can run the table in conference play.)

I said it in an earlier post as well as my fearless forecast, Ohio won't come out on top vs the Gophers. Kent was their wake-up call and the team that hung in there vs TCU will return.

That wouldn't surprise me, but of course, if that happens, we will wait to see if your next forecast comes true as well, that Ohio loses to Akron, and the "board goes into freefall & Monroe sets self on fire".
