Sieh Bangura 3rd string Minnesota
Hope the money’s good.
There is just SO MUCH bad advice given by Yes Men. I shouldn't feel bad because these are adults making adult decisions, but these days they're guided by CURRENT dollar signs and not future dollar signs. They're guided by social media and being in the lights.
I get it man. OU isn't churning out NFL RB's. But you know where you don't get to the NFL? Obscurity. Being 3rd on the depth chart as a junior. You could've been one of the first. You could've paved the way.
Honestly, I felt like he could be a next-level RB. At the very least, get a shot. If he kept putting up stats. Being the 3rd string RB at any school is not how you get there.
Jaleel McLaughlin - was an absolute BEAST at Youngstown State. Youngstown. FCS. Not exactly the shining star of college football. I'm CERTAIN he had people in his ear after 1300 total yards as a junior. He probably had them in his ear after 700 yards in 7 games as a sophomore. He was like I'm good here. I'm dominating. Comes back as a senior and does exactly what he did the year before, only has almost 2K total yards. Got on some radars and stayed on the radars. Now he's the #2 RB for the Broncos and I just saw Sports illustrated had him as one of their Top 10 breakout stars for this season.
Grass is rarely greener. I'd love to be a sort of career counseler for some of these kids. They really need someone to be like THESE are the facts, THIS is the reality. I know Minnesota probably told you you were the next big thing and you're gonna help them win the Big10. And here is $100K to prove it, but here at Ohio University you will be the starter, you will be the focus of the entire offense. You will have 150 yards every game. You will be on ESPN every night in November. You will have eyes all over you. THAT is how you get to the NFL.
