...Actually the most important question is can we catch.
...

We don't know the answer to that question, but we do know that there are plenty of potential receivers. In the list of 26 transfers, there are 5 WR and 3 TE, plus an RB, so 9 potential people to catch the ball. On top of that, the Freshmen who will arrive include 3 more WR, 2 more TE, another RB, plus an "athlete", a total of 7 more potential people to catch the ball. It doesn't stop there, though; there are also 2 more receivers who are preferred walkons. All told, Ohio added 10 Wide Receivers, 5 TE, one "athlete" and 2 running backs, a total of 18 more players who are potential receivers. Hopefully, in amongst all those numbers, some new stars will appear.

100% agree.

Plenty of options at the WR position.

Between Chase Hendricks, Rodney Harris, Coleman Owen, the 3 recent transfers (Hartup, Pugh, Dennis), as well as the incoming freshman (Dorwart, Hurst)...I think we will be perfectly fine.

Did I completely miss that we lost Hilton as well?

We lost our Top 7 in receiving yards last year + a bunch of dudes who were supposed to be next up (Hammer, Hilton, Rhone) Would be stunned if anyone else in the country was hit harder than we were.

Jacoby REALLY hurts, but man that room was decimated top to bottom.

I have high hopes for Owen, Rodarte continuing to be productive as they were in JUCO/FCS. Especially Rodarte. Hendricks (11 catches) and Rodney Harris (1 catch) are the only two WR returning who had a catch last season...

Would be nice to see one or two of these freshman explode on the scene.

Harris is good. I saw him several times in high school and was quite surprised we landed him. I thought he'd have no problem producing someplace like Pitt, IU, BC, etc. Sebastian Smith clone.

Coleman Owen and Izaiah Hartup were very productive at the FCS level and hopefully that will translate here.

The big question for me is what kind of production will we get out of the two B10 transfers in Dennis (Michigan) and Pugh (Illinois).

I complain about this so much I'm sure people are tired of listening to me, but kids join the team in May-June and expect to be ready for August? Crazy. The times we live, but boy do I hate it. Parker looks like he's still in town, but are these kids? They're gonna meet each other in the huddle at Syracuse lol

While true, the other teams Ohio faces will have the same problem, perhaps to a lesser extent, but still the same problem.

Do we have a final list of our outgoing transfers and where they ended up? I know the original post was updated but hadn't been since January with lots of open ends. Would like to have the list handy as I follow college football around the country and see what fortunes come to our departed Bobcats.

Do we have a list of players who entered the portal, giving up their scholarship, but who ended up without a scholarship offer anywhere?

1st Team All-Bad Advice:

Tristan Cox
Jailen Hammer
Kobi Gorman
Ryan Logan
Christian Hilton
Demond Arter
Andrew Marshall
Chase Hall
Geo Loya
Mekah Ryder
Toby Adensaya
Ben Johnson

And we had quite a few that transferred down. That in my mind, could've played big roles this season. Deontay Hunter to Prairie View. Keegan to Bryant, Burton to Utah Tech come to mind.

(Some of these fellas might not have been scholarship players, or were let-quit)

Their starter was out and he still didn’t play a snap. He won’t be seeing the field this year.

I saw Jacoby didn't catch anything for UCF and Cox had two tackles. No Buell listed in Colorado's defensive stats either. I truly do hope that the money was worth going and sitting the pine. It reminds me of Jaaron Simmons. For him it seemed worth it to go to Michigan because it allowed him to start his coaching career. But in terms of playing, he was an afterthought.

Rhone had 2 receptions for 34 yards in Arkansas Pine Bluff's 70-0 loss to Arkansas, make him one of their leading receivers.

There is just SO MUCH bad advice given by Yes Men. I shouldn't feel bad because these are adults making adult decisions, but these days they're guided by CURRENT dollar signs and not future dollar signs. They're guided by social media and being in the lights.

I get it man. OU isn't churning out NFL RB's. But you know where you don't get to the NFL? Obscurity. Being 3rd on the depth chart as a junior. You could've been one of the first. You could've paved the way.

Honestly, I felt like he could be a next-level RB. At the very least, get a shot. If he kept putting up stats. Being the 3rd string RB at any school is not how you get there.

Jaleel McLaughlin - was an absolute BEAST at Youngstown State. Youngstown. FCS. Not exactly the shining star of college football. I'm CERTAIN he had people in his ear after 1300 total yards as a junior. He probably had them in his ear after 700 yards in 7 games as a sophomore. He was like I'm good here. I'm dominating. Comes back as a senior and does exactly what he did the year before, only has almost 2K total yards. Got on some radars and stayed on the radars. Now he's the #2 RB for the Broncos and I just saw Sports illustrated had him as one of their Top 10 breakout stars for this season.

Grass is rarely greener. I'd love to be a sort of career counseler for some of these kids. They really need someone to be like THESE are the facts, THIS is the reality. I know Minnesota probably told you you were the next big thing and you're gonna help them win the Big10. And here is $100K to prove it, but here at Ohio University you will be the starter, you will be the focus of the entire offense. You will have 150 yards every game. You will be on ESPN every night in November. You will have eyes all over you. THAT is how you get to the NFL.

In fairness, a player can't get to the NFL without facing tougher competition at some point, and that could be in an NFL camp, or it could be by transferring to a P-5 team. If Bangura is good enough to play in the NFL, he is good enough to rise to the top at Minnesota. Conversely, if he isn't good enough to rise to the top at Minnesota, he's not good enough to play in the NFL. So far, it's looking like the latter, but he still has time to prove otherwise.

The best argument for him staying at Ohio is that, to play at the NFL, he needs to improve, and he would have improved more by playing at Ohio than by sitting at Minnesota.

I watched that UNC-Minn game last night thinking the same. What a waste of talent that could be playing at Ohio. He'll get some carries later in the year as guys go through inevitable injuries, but not enough to highlight his skills.

So basically most of our ex players are backups where they landed. But their new teams were able to fill those places on the depth chart with our proven players instead of new recruits or their players already there who were not good enough to take those slots. Now will our ex players be happy with lesser roles and bigger salaries ? Who knows?

Buell isn't on the stat line at Colorado either. Kept flipping back and forth between the games, trying to catch Bangura or Buell to no avail. Buell may have seen the field, but I didn't catch it.

We talk about how losing Jacoby hurts, and I agree to an extent, only because his recovery from a really nasty injury injects some uncertainty.

To me, the one that hurts is Kacmarek. His size, blocking ability and decent hands made him stand out in my mind. I've liked the way that guy plays from day one. He's 2nd on the depth chart at tOSU, and one would think that he will see some playing time there. I think he could have been a monster in Athens his last couple years.

L.C., I would submit that BigBen would be a piece of evidence that would go counter to your thesis. He was drafted right out of Miami and went to the Super Bowl in his first season. That's the most extreme example, but many linemen from the directional Michigans have been drafted in the first or second round as well as players for other MAC teams. Heck, on occasion the NFL has even drafted D3 players. NFL scouts are good and they will find talent regardless of where they are plying their trade. I realize that these were all in the pre-NIL Era, but I can't see that in this regard that makes any difference.

He is more like 1B at OSU, lots of two tight packages, he will see a lot of snaps.
