Most pathetic showing at home since BG a few years back. Coaches have a lot of explaining to do, they didn't prepare this team at all.
Well on the bright side BGSU is an away game this year.

There's a big drop off between what we thought this team was and what it actually is.

Wow, some of you (while rather correct, of course) are really getting emotional and seeing us suddenly as not nearly as good as thought.

What up that?

Injuries have slashed this team no one has "given up". You got backups with NO EXP thats what happens.

Tough loss. WMU exposed something pretty major in the run defense. Better for that to happen vs. WMU than a division opponent. But better still if it didn't happen at all.

But also, the Ohio offense didn't play well. Ohio needed to be thinking of out-scoring WMU. WMU has a strong offense, they were going to score. If not 49 at least 30. Ohio had to out-score them, and the cats had opportunities and didn't convert.

Now we get to learn a little more about what the team is made of. Will they bounce back? At Buffalo isn't an easy rebound game.

The obvious turning point in the game was not making 4th and 1 in the second Q. I think it was a good decision but the play was poorly executed. Our O line had no push and AJ chose to follow the blockers who weren't going anywhere instead of running into a hole that opened up on his right. It gave them good field position and they were able to capitalize after Wells was tossed.

The game had a weird feeling to it almost from the start. First game this season we didn't score in the first Q. I think getting an early score gets the O fired up.

We still haven't given up a first Q TD this season.

What basis was there for thinking that we'd score a lot vs WMU...well, apart from doubting the strength of WMU's defense? Our offense hasn't been very good this year.

Monroe, the passing game was WAY off today. Vick was missing receivers or throwing three yard passes into tight coverage. He almost hit the cannon crew once. They seemed to ignore the running game completely and when it was utilized, it was obvious and ineffective.
Not the Cats' day at all today and we made Western look better than they are. However, in two games they rolled up 90 points on us.

Pataskala, you are wrong. That was a field position game for two quarters. We gave it up and it cost us. The game was never the same after that

Just got home after another beautiful day in Athens for football...

I have not read the game tracker but...

I recall 7 straight WMU drives that resulted in TD's, if that is true, is that some kind of record? I mean, no punts, no FG's, no turnover, no 4 and out BUT 7 STRAIGHT DRIVES FOR TD's!!!! Holy Cow that is a major whuppin.

We can agree to disagree. I happen to think that if your offense has three first downs in four possessions and you get across midfield for the first time, going on 4th and 1 is not a bad decision. It was just crappy execution. You can't play field position all day with a team like WMU; you've got to eventually score some points.

Daz Patterson On the power run game:
“I think it was a big part of the game plan to get outside. Whatever run Western Michigan was running, it would be nice to run that.”

I don't disagree with going for it on 4th and short thee.

Here's the problem. And, sadly, it's so typical of our coaching.

OUellette, who for amazingly mysterious reasons has not had a carry to this point all day, is inserted for this play. Who do you think is going to get the carry? WMU had a pretty good idea and stopped the play.

It was horrible overall strategy for the game and horrible strategy for that play.
