...There is more complaining about the coaches, the players they play and the play calling this year than last....which is really odd to me other than it proves some people simply cannot be pleased.
You are observant. As recently as 2008 it was the reverse - the fans were completely behind the team, and even losing did not significantly dampen their enthusiasm or support. After 2009-2011, however, the sense of entitlement went up significantly, and Ohio fans are now much like fans elsewhere.
It may seem strange to you that even winning does not dampen the negativity, but it's perfectly normal. What winning does do is to raise expectations, and that in turn increases the urgency to find things to be negative about. You see, before the season the expectation of most fans was perhaps 7 wins, so if they won 8, that would be decent and the fans would be happy, right? Now that they are 3-0, expectations are higher, and since there is little of substance to complain about, the complaints turn to style, strategy, and of course, player selection.
Unfortunately that's the ugly side of football - the more successful you are, the more the fans feel entitled to. All you can do is to accept that that is how it will be, but don't let it get to you. Over the next few seasons we are going to enjoy some very good football, and an awful lot of wins. No, of course it won't dampen the negativity, but we can enjoy it nonetheless. In fact, there is even a perverse pleasure to be had from knowing how much fun some people are missing with their constant complaining.
Note that I do like seeing the other players, too, such as Irons, Brown, and Windham. The difference is that I trust the coaches to know when to use them, plus, I've always been an optimist, so I tend to avoid the negativity.
