Here's an idea, how about we worry about the offense that only scored 14 points and keep the defense off the field.
BG is averaging 43 points a game so if our offense doesn't drastically improve it won't matter if we get every defensive player back.
I was thinking the same thing but points might be hard to come by Saturday. Until last week, Buffalo hadn't given up more than 28 points to a team all season (BG). PSU scored 27 and Nevada 24. Long scoring drives would help keep the D off the field. Let's hope we can get some.

Agreed. Remember after the Akron game when folks were explaining away our offensive performance by pointing to Akron's great defense? Well, BG didn't have any issues laying 60 on them.

No one has any illusions that Ohio's offense would be confused for BG's offense. Nevertheless, I think Ohio's offense is sufficient to win most games where the defense can hold the foe under 20. That's why we want to see the defense get back on track.

Sorry...but I'm not sure if this defense can hold any of our future opponents except for maybe Kent under 20 points....and that's only because Kent might have one of the worst offenses in MAC history.

This offense is going to have to show some consistent firepower these last five games to avoid a 7-5 or 6-6 season.

You may not be wrong, but our DL is still fairly healthy and can be really good. And perhaps a few reserves step up at LB/DB and fare well? It's possible. Our LB unit is an extreme worry for me right now, but let's see how we handle that given a full week to prepare. I'll be looking for some new faces to emerge on Saturday - seems like Daugherty has played fairly well at times this year.

Buffalo's RB Anthone Taylor might miss the game, he's listed as questionable. That would be a blow to UB. But it won't matter either way if he plays or not.

Ohio - 26
Buffalo - 18

Holding a team to 20 would not have won the game last week.

I fear we are in deep do do...

To use one of Franks favorite words, obviously, this game is going to be real challenge and we will find out whether our team has the ability to overcome both last weeks train wreck as well as the injuries to the LB position.
Personally I think there will be additional pressure put on our offense to score and keep the Buffalo offense off the field.
I want to believe that Frank's assertion that the team has put last weeks game behind them is true.
I would also like to see if Frank can instill, in the team, to play with more intensity and aggressiveness.
"Let's take the game to Buffalo."
"Let's control the flow of the game."
"Let's control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."

I hope our offense comes out firing and has a field day.

Any updates on the health of Heitzman?

This season is starting to feel a lot like Solich's first year. We were 4-4 heading into Nov -- as many wins as we had the previous season -- but we were really banged up and finished 4-7. I don't think that'll happen this year, but a loss Saturday means we could very well be 5-4 coming out of BG. That would not bode well for the rest of the season. We have three very winnable games at Buff and at home vs BSU and Kent coming up. But the subs really need to step up.

Can you imagine if we had pulled out a win at Minnesota and gone into the WMU game 6-0 and likely ranked? Talk about shades of 2012.

After that loss at Fiami Ohio bounced back and beat a weak opponent (EMU) but then lost the final 3 games vs BGSU, Ball St and Kent St.

This year we may bounce back against a weak opponent (UB) but them we play, guess who- BGSU, Kent St and Ball St. before ending the season at NIU. In 2012 we lost 4 of the last 6, that seems like a real possibility again this year.

In 2012 Ohio ended the schedule on a nice high note in Shreveport vs ULM . On a cold day Bobcat fans, those who stuck with the team, got to see "Bobcat football." Mrs. and I were in the stands and I banked some "fan"tastic memories. Please don't discuss the end of 2012 without including Ohio's 2nd bowl win.

Ohio Injury List (status is my interpretation based upon media reports):
LB Quentin Poling - Out (knee)
RB Papi White - Out (knee)
QB J.D. Sprague - Out (shoulder)
DE Trent Smart - Out (foot)
TE Troy Mangen - Out for sedason (knee)

plus
s Nathan Carpenter - Out (groin)
FS Kylan Nelson - Out (groin)
DL Brandon Purdum - Out (undisclosed)
CB Curtis Brunson - Out (undisclosed)
OL Joe Anderson - Out (undisclosed)
OL Joe Lowery - Out (groin)
WR Herman Brunis - Out (knee)
TE Connor Brown - Out (illness)
LB Jovon Johnson - Probable (ankle)
LB Blair Brown - Probable (leg)
LB Chad Moore - Probable (thumb/leg)
TE Keith Heiztman - Probable (knee)
CB Devin Bass - Probable (undisclosed)
OL Durrell Wood - Probable (shoulder)

It looks like Ohio is #1 in the country again this year (well, Rutgers does have 20 players listed to Ohio's 18, but five of those were dismissed from the team, not injured):
http://www.donbest.com/ncaaf/injuries /

The good news is that most of these that are out are second string. Other than Poling and Mangen, the starters that are on the list are "probable", but it definitely will affect the rotation. Also good is that, while Ohio doesn't have a full bye week, after Buffalo, they do get an extra half week for some of these to heal. So far only Mangen's injury is for the season, so hopefully a lot of these guys will be back down the stretch.

This list of injuries for this week are the most we have had this year. While as L.C. stated most are 2nd team it is still quite concerning. It's concerning when you add this situation to our loss last week and we are on the road in a place that we have had marginal success.
Our character, heart, and determination will be tested today.
I believe we can overcome against this team.

"LET'S DO IT!"

That injury list is simply ridiculous. Especially looking at how many players got injured against WMU.

Here comes the patented late season Bobcat fall. Since TTs senior year this is our MO. Crumble under adversity.

Same bullshit...different week.

Terrible tackling

Getting destroyed up front.

No run game whatsoever.

So-called good defense getting shredded by pitiful Buffalo and back-up RB.

This is so tired.

Pathetic
