I was uptown both before and after the game and let's just say I found where all the students were.
I had my cousins in from Wisconsin as part of their annual college football road trip and was disappointed for them to see probably the worst Peden crowd in many years. But they understood the circumstances (mid-week, crappy weather, losing streak) and seemed to enjoy the game and really loved the campus and uptown, because of course.
Not sure if any of you saw my Badger visitors but when the PA system played "Jump Around" just before the half they of course stood up and jumped around like they were back home, it was pretty funny.
I was across the aisle from you and it was funny when they started dancing. It was refreshing to see fans from a Big 10 school wearing another shade of red inside Peden Stadium.
I understand the myriad of excuses people have for skipping the game and I am not going to harp on people for not attending. I showed up, watched a pretty boring game in unfavorable weather, and drove home feeling about the same as I did on the drive to Athens. I would've watched the game at home, so I figured I might as well drive to Athens to see it live.
My guess is that the mid-week attendance in Peden is a lot better than all the other schools. It looked a lot more full than BG did last week. I brought kids with me, but they did not have school today because they have Veterans Day off. I could probably copy and paste this post next week too since it will be an identical conversation.
