FWIW, Ohio hasn't scored more than 17 points against Kent since 2008. ...

And it's time for that to change. I felt that last week the offense woke back up, and the running game came to life (who picked recovery of the running game to beat OCF's 6000th post?). If the running game continues to live, Ohio will put some points on the board.

A better question for this week is "will the defense live again"? Kent's offense sucks, so one would think this would be a good week for the defense to get it's feet back under them.
It's so strange that Kent has been Ohio's Achilles Heel offensively recently. It's just like they've figured it out like no one else has.

KSU's defense is decent, but their offense is pitiful. Watching them try and complete a pass is painful.

I can't believe after what has happened the last three games and all the talk about how bad our team is that we have the nerve to talk about how inept Kent is. I'm just hoping we somehow win and that their QB's don't abuse us as bad as they may seem.

The top 60 teams in the country are averaging approximately 36 points per game ( Toledo is 30 at 35.8) yet we are averaging 20.6 the last 5 games. Our problem is offense, in today's college game you need to score at least 30 a game to have a good team and we can't generate any consistent offense. Even if we got everyone back on defense we still have an offensive problem. We are only 9th in the MAC in scoring, we can talk all we want about defensive injuries but our offense is really well below average.

The problems have been on both sides. You don't give up 50 pts a game without defensive problems. Ours have been evident in zero takeaways in three games. That means generally worse field position and no momentum changers for the offense to build on. I think it has to do with the inexperience of the replacements. In the first six games, on most every tackle somebody was trying to strip the ball and we piled up the takeaways. But the replacements are focusing on just making the tackle, so we get no takeaways.

No pun intended, BUT......This is most important game of the season based on where the team is at this point.

I see that it is kind of chilly and overcast. Do you think the KSU equipment truck will make it to Athens for the game.

If the KSU truck doesn't make it how can Parking Services be expected to ticket and boot it?

Did not realize that Kent only had 4 days for this game. Something that should greatly benefit the Cats, but is also wrong.

No matter what some on this board say and think..we need PLAYMAKERS. We just don't seem to have them when compared to top MAC teams.

Sebastian Smith has become a playmaker at WR.

Definitional problem. Compare Roger Lewis and others on BG receiving passes.

My point was that everyone talks about our defense and we all agree on that one but there's little discussion about how below average our offense is. At least we can assume part or most of our defensive problems are injury related but that's not the case on offense which is my point. I'm constantly watching college teams score in the 40's and even 50's but we are lucky to score 24 and with a depleted defense or even a really good defense you can't win with our offense against good teams.

Ohio had a short week, but Kent had an even shorter week. I agree that it's a huge benefit for Ohio, but just not right. The fact that the MAC lets this happen should incur some justifiable complaining.

The truck will make it, but the question for me is will they bring an offense that can score at least 10 points along with them or not?

I remember a year or two ago when we were on the short end of this issue. Not good or fair in anyone's book.

The O line has come to play. They're opening HUGE holes for the RBs. Haven't seen them blow a defense off the ball like this in a loooong time.

Although we're running effectively, all Kent needs to do is key on the one or two guys in the backfield. I've got a feeling that our running game might slow down a bit in the second half. On the other hand, as punishing as that last drive was on Kent's D line, we might be able to control the line in the fourth quarter.

Thought for sure we'd see AJ on that last 3rd and 2 play. The pass wasn't a bad call, but we had more than 30 secs left and timeout so AJUTM might've gotten the first down.

Really nice to see Poling back. He's everywhere. This is a whole different D than we've had the last three games.

Go Cats!!!

Who the hell let Don Treadwell be in charge of an offense? I knew that Kent's O was bad, but this is god awful football.

It's easy to forget they were an overtime MAC Championship Game away from a potential Orange Bowl in 2012.

How many here would've traded OUr ride for theirs?

Felt good to watch the Cats take care of business against a horrendous team on a short week. This result was needed, it gets the players confidence going. The Ball State game next week is very winnable.
