Yet again we are 5 yards out at the end of the game on National TV, yet again we decide to not score despite being 5 yards out at the end of the game on National TV. I don't care how far up we are, we are 5 freaking yards out on National TV.

Several reasons not to go for yet another TD in that situation:

1. Going for another score is classless crap. No need to rub it in.

2. Solich and Lembo have too much respect for one another.

3. BSU waived the white flag when they kicked the extra point after their last TD instead of going for two and trying to make it a two-possession game. It was over.

4. Why risk getting somebody else hurt to score a useless TD.

They didn't even take any knees. They had multiple plays they could have scored on. Time ran out first. What did you want them to do? Call timeouts?

I'm sure that Dorian Brown had a green light to try to score on every carry, but, since he didn't score, it would have been classless to call time out to take more shots at a TD that they didn't need. Also, how would you feel if they did try that, and someone got hurt in the process?

OHIO could have easily scored a meaningless FG at the end. Frank will *never* run up a score. I heard him say in his pre-game interview what a good coach and good friend Lembo was and how he'd get BSU off the mat next year and they'd bounce back. He's not going to rub a friend's face in he dirt. Though as a fan I really wanted to crack 50 points, I fully understand how Frank managed the last part of the game. Frank's not only a fine coach, but he's a gentleman as well.

That was dumb. I hate coaches who quit before the game is over. Reminds me of the guys in the chat room saying the game is over 2 minutes in.

Dumb.

Crazier things have happened. The coaches job is to put your team in a position to win. Quitting early doesn't accomplish that.

I tell the truth, I am not negative. I love the Cats, I want the best for them. The coaches and the players want to win every game and the MACC every year, so do I. I bet when they game plan they expect to win, maybe except that press conference the week of the Minnesota game where our coach showed fear, they expect to win. As a fan, I tell them how I think they can win, not how they can be mediocre.

To the coaches and the fans, this is a sight is in a free country where we can post how we feel about the team, the coaches, etc. I am sure some of the coaches read this site along with the fans.

If coaches don't listen to the alumni and fans, they would get fired. I don't know if I can change their mind, but at least they know how I and others feel. As I said before, I like our coaches, but they have to do better. Every year a coach gets fired because fans believe they are underperforming, they put pressure on the AD and boom it's done. So if that is not your reality, then yes it is funny. You can try to undermine me and others, but you only make yourself look stupid. The fact is I am doing what I am entitled to do and my thoughts are rational, so when you try to discredit me, you have to be irrational. If thousands of fans said they wanted better Frank's seat would get hot. I like Frank, I just want to see us go to the next level.

I was a little surprised that we didn't kick the FG on 4th and 1, because to me that is less of a "running up the score" move than going for it from the 5, with the chance that the RB could take it to the end zone.

I don't think it mattered one way or another if we scored, but I'm pretty sure the goal was to ram it down their throats on the ground and not give them the ball back unless we did score. There's really nothing more demoralizing to a team than having an opponent run the last 6:38 off the clock on a drive using nothing but running plays and not give them the ball back.

It's certainly an efficient and effective way to end the game, plus it rests the defense, and builds the team's confidence for the next week.

I'm fairly sure that none of the coaches read this site, but I'm sure that some the the Graduate Assistants, etc. do. I'd like to hope that none of the players read it, but I'm sure that some of them do, as well. In general coaches advise players to not read sites like this at all schools, not just Ohio, because the attitudes of fans that post on sites like this is generally toxic to player morale.

You have played, coached and studied the sport for 20, 30, 40, 50 years. I was a back-up guard who often peed in my uniform because I couldn't hold my bladder for the three hours during a game.

You can watch a play for three seconds and completely diagram it. I've Googled the term "Why is the middle linebacker named Mike" at one point in my life.

You have worked with and molded young men and made it your mission in life. I once screamed "NICE MUSTACHE" at Dave Wannstedt as I ran across the field at Peden Stadium.

You've picked up and moved your family multiple times to follow a dream, working countless hours. I expect overtime when I go over 40 and dread even moving from one house to another house in the same town.

BUT LISTEN TO ME ABOUT FOOTBALL!

If you don't think some of the coaches read this site, you are in fantasy land. Maybe not the head coach, but coaches always want to know the fans sentiment. The fans at Michigan got their coach fired by going to their AD's house and I am not talking about this year when they lose to Michigan State where the Ad was fired for alienating the fans. Guess, what the AD did not ask the fans.

2. How long have you coached?
3. What are your credential?
4. Is there a ballpoint in your pocket-protector?

OT: But this jargon is a football pet peeve of mine. He is not the Mike backer, the Sam backer, or the Will backer. He is the Middle linebacker, the Strong-side linebacker, or the Weak-side linebacker.

(And we're not even getting into the entire concept of a "Strong-side" versus a "Weak-side," with the players flipping sides depending on the offense's formation. Guess what the entire concept of a hurry up offense is? Get the defensive players out of position. GUESS WHAT DEFENSIVE PLAYERS ARE WHEN THEY'RE WAITING FOR THE OFFENSE TO LINE UP BEFORE THEY THEMSELVES GET SET????)

From my experience,posts on fan boards, in and of themselves, don't have much influence on an athletic department.

In revenue sports,renewing/not renewing season tickets,or purchasing tickets to individual games, is how athletic departments are influenced.

If ticket sales keep steady and "big" donors don't stop contributing,the complaints of 50 or so regular posters on a fan board aren't going to effect the A.D.
