When he spoke at the City College of New York (CUNY) he was met with shouts of "Zionists out of CUNY," he said. At Johns Hopkins, he said, posters showing his face were defaced with Hitler mustaches. When he attends lectures or gives speeches on campus, Dershowitz says, he needs police officers to escort him around campus for his own safety.

"These students don't want me to be safe," he said. "They don't want students who agree with me to be safe. They just want their ideas to be safe and protected from any contrary point of view."

+1 Thanks for pointing this out, TS. There is a growing anti-Semitism on campuses across the nation. In fact, it is almost becoming fashionable to be against all things Jewish and to blame Israel for all the woes in the Middle East. This is such a distorted view of history and of present reality that it is like the "newspeak" of 1984 (the novel, not the year). It is truly frightening.

Good lord, this thread is off the rails. Maybe if we could win a meaningful football game we could actually talk about football here!
