Just saw flights from Columbus to Ft. Lauderdale for $272 on Southwest - leaving Monday and returning Wednesday.

I'll take Cincy. I went to see them play Tulsa and their defense, in particular their run defense is terrible. The passing defense isn't much better. We can roll up a lot of yards on the ground on them and keep the ball away from their offense. A very winnable game.

Is that an "I have it on good authority" statement or wishful thinking? If it's on good authority, I personally think that's quite a coup for Ohio. Both Cincinnati and Temple are at least major G5 football teams. I have seen some projections of Ohio playing Georgia Southern. Nothing against Georgia Southern as I know they have a very good football team but honestly, I had never even heard of that university until 2-3 years ago. And you can't beat the location! Plus, it's Dec. 22nd and not on the very 1st day of the bowl season of Dec. 19th, thus giving Ohio's injured players a couple more days to heal.

If this is indeed the game, color me happy!

South Florida is a good destination. Cincy and Temple would both be fun opponents. I'd rather play the Bearcats. Ohio is going to be about a 7 point underdog against UC. They'd be close to two TD against Temple. We'd be one of the bigger underdogs in the bowls if we draw the Owls. Think 12 or 13.

I guess history says that Temple just can't beat Ohio.

With Matt Brunner as the Director of their marching band, the battle of the bands with Temple would be something to see.

But jerry Palm did not have the Bahamas Bowl correct (he changed his prediction this morning after the announcement last night).

For what it is worth, the one site that did have the Bahamas Bowl correct was campus insider - they have us at the Camellia Bowl vs. Georgia Southern

http://campusinsiders.com/news/2015-2016-college-football ...

I find it hard to believe Western accepted the bid (i.e., the MAC accepted the bid) without knowing where the other MAC schools are going. Guess we just have to wait for the official word.

This must be the new saying in athletics:

“It is truly another great day to be a Bronco,” Western Michigan Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard said.

I imagine the MAC pretty much knows where everybody's going, now that an access bowl bid is out the window. MACCG winner goes to Mobile; loser goes to Boise; Ohio, Toledo and Akron get Boca, Camelia and the Poinsettia (or its equivalent if Pac12 makes a trade), not necessarily in that order. CMU will probably be playing in Detroit in either the B10's or the ACC's slot; CMU and WMU always bring big crowds to Detroit.

I ran in to Derrius Vick in the dining hall today. We spoke about WMU getting the Bahamas bowl, classes, etc... He seemed to think we'd be going to Florida or Alabama...

Real nice kid. He wasn't limping at all and said he'd be playing in the bowl...

Boca is easy...but what's the best way to get from Ohio to Montgomery? Fly into Atlanta and drive the rest of the way?

it's 6+ hours in the car and flying/driving to the airports with flying time or just 11 hours driving direct.

So if Western has their bid, I assume ours cannot be far behind.

Every extra day to plan helps!

Which is why I think the Popeye's bowl has been announced. Logistically, a bowl outside the US, I can see conferences/NCAA announcing that one ASAP. The others, I'm guessing we'll be waiting until this weekend.

The three eligible Sun Belt teams reportedly have accepted bids: Arkansas St to N'awlins; Ga Southern to GoDaddy; and Appy St to Camellia: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14272580/t...

What I don't understand is why ESPN couldn't confirm these with the Sun Belt commissioner, given that ESPN owns the Camellia Bowl.

Comments on ESPN about the Rose Bowl and the selection process. If anyone ever thought it was about anything but the money, read this.

"The strong presumption is that we're going to go with the highest-ranked team that's available to us. Only in extraordinary situations will we deviate from that presumption."

When asked what those extraordinary situations might be, Jenkins used the example of Wisconsin going to the Rose Bowl for three straight years.

"Let's say Wisconsin was the next-highest-ranked team, but right next to Wisconsin was Minnesota," Jenkins said. "That would be a situation where everybody agreed we could jump Wisconsin to take Minnesota. We use that as an example of an extraordinary circumstance. What we found is when schools come in multiple years, the first year they come, people are really excited and come out in droves and have a wonderful time. The second year, people are excited but fewer people come out, they buy less merchandise, and by the third year, there's a substantial drop-off.
