App. State is a good team with a 10-2 record. One of their losses was 41-10 to Clemson. The remainder of their scheduled seemed fairly soft.

They beat Idaho by 27 - the only common opponent. And for those of you who like championships, they won the 1 - AA National Championship in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

One advantage Ohio has is extra rest. App. State played last night, defeating South Alabama.

This is a time when the Walter Fieldhouse comes in handy. Ohio should be able to get in some quality practices.

ASU has a RB with 1256 yards. Leading receiver has 439 yards. Quarterback had 29 TD and 8 interceptions. Threw 3 picks against Arkansas State with the conference championship up for grabs. Ohio is going to have to bring its game on defense and force some mistakes to win.

Appy St will be favored. They are a very athletic football team. We have NO business complaining abt playing a Sun Belt team. They are comparable to the MAC.

Agree Todd - my post is to OUr fans who may not be psyched. I'm from Charlotte area, so playing an instate school adds some fum to me. And yes, if you have not been to Boone, you have missed out on a beautiful area - same can be said for Athens!

This has the makings of a very good game. App. State will be especially excited to play as it's their first bowl game and Ohio will be rested and the healthiest they've been in quite awhile. Unfortunately I cannot make it but I will be sure to watch it while enjoying some fine Great Lakes Christmas Ales.

Nice thing about this game is that it's on a Saturday evening on ESPN so it will reach a lot of households.

GO BOBCATS!!!

Really bummed that I cannot go as I would absolutely be there except I'm having neck surgery a few days before then and my wife won't let me travel.

For Ohio its a nice regional matchup and timeslot. I can understand why some of the MAC would prefer a MWC opponent in Boise but Ohio as an Appalachian school would enjoy an SBC opponent in a bowl.

I intend to make the drive from Durham, NC along with my daughter (an App State grad) and grandson who will be wearing his green and white. I was stationed for 9 years in Montgomery and am looking forward to going back. Somebody mentioned that Crampton Bowl is a glorified high school stadium, and the local high schools do indeed play there. It has a capacity of 26,000 but will not look like any high school stadium you have been in.

I too have witnessed games at App State and the fans are much more into it than Ohio fans are. I guess success will do that for you. It is a fun place to see a game if you ever get the chance.

Having said that, GO OHIO!

Colorado State and Nevada have to play each other in a bowl game. We could have it MUCH WORSE.

I'm saying a bowl against Appalachian State or Arkansas State is a semi-regional pairing for Ohio.

Ohio wins this bowl easy. Can't see ASU hanging in this one.
