Be prepared for the long haul at the game. We attended last year's inaugural Camellia Bowl game with South Alabama playing in it against BG. The game lasted just a few minutes short of 4 hours. With ESPN running the show, there were a gazillion TV time outs. It seemed like there were never more than two consecutive plays run without yet another stoppage for a time out....

Hopefully it won't be quite that long. BG throws the ball a lot, which leads to a lot of clock stoppages, and a long game. Both Ohio and especially App State will run the ball a lot, which will keep the clock running.
God, I hope it's well shorter than 4 hours. That'll really pinch my return plans.

Finally we get some good press on the Hustlebelt.com website. It's a good read even though we all, on this board, are up to date with the latest injury status.

App State is 10-2 with losses to Ark State and #1 Clemson. Ohio is 8-4 with a three game losing streak where we were outscored by 100pts. I'm not sure what kind of "positive press" you're looking for. I've read many articles about the game, none have been disparaging of Ohio but all have favored App. As they should.

I'm starting to get psyched for this game. The team should be about as healthy as its been all season, so I expect a solid performance from the D. App St is very good, but they'll probably come in really jacked up, so they'll need to control their emotions. This should be a very good game.

Here's a rather funny take on the Camellia Bowl from Spencer Hall and friends on his Shutdown Fullcast. They're doing a rundown of all the bowl games, so I can't imagine this is the worst they have. I can't wait to listen to the Nevada/Colorado State preview. Be warned, lots of sarcasm and satire here, but the fact about the ticket price thing was just pathetic.

I could see this game going in so many different directions. It should be a blast.

Our defense is the key unit in determining the outcome. Hope we're flying around.

Sprague gets the start at QB per twitter. Hoping we have some Vick-at-WR trickeration up our sleeves.

I agree. One of the wags picked App St because we had trouble stopping the run in our four losses. But we were very thin at LB for three of those. When our D was healthy, we stuffed the opposition's running game. We won't shut down App St, but I expect we'll contain by limiting their yds after contact.

For Bobcat fans in town for the bowl game, take a drive down to the area of I-85 exit 2, just south of downtown, and see the new football stadium for Alabama State - an FCS school for football. It woud make a great model for an expanded Peden Stadium some day.

Remember when we win the turnover battle we win.
App. State lost 11 fumbles this year. If they continue to run the ball in this game as they have all season then their fumble ration should continue.
After reading all the articles and hearing the Coaches comments at the pep rally I have some final observations;
1) I have rarely seen Frank as excited as he was at the pep rally.
2) Our health is a real good omen.
3) Surprised that Vick, the senior, doesn't start. I take this as a good thing as it shows that Frank will make player decisions based on talent and performance not on a players years of experience.
4) With us as the under dog this will only serve as more pressure on AS and this being their 1st bowl could be a plus for us.
5) I am looking for us to play with great intensity for the 4 quarters.

Overall, we're really not getting much respect from the various commentator/ procrastinaters, so it's put up or shut up time for the Bobcats. App state has some very good stats going for them. If we can't run the ball, we're probably dead meat.

Great post 71 Bobcat and I'm fired up! So glad to hear that Coach Solich is pumped; and if that guy's excited for the game I'm sure the players are. I'm dressed head-to-toe in OHIO gear, so LET'S GO BOBCATS!!!

As an old believer in "Run the Ball, Stop the Run, Win the Game" I get where your coming from. However, if a healthy Ohio can not run, it should be because App State is overloading the box, for which, White, Smith, Cope & Reid should be able to make them pay.

We have to make them pay, they go for it and we stop them. We only have 33 yards so far, they don't respect our offense. Papi White up the middle, how about Papi White in Space. On third and 14 from the 22 a two yard slant will not work, you are in essence pushing him into the defense unless you have spread them out. We need better play calling,

College football is a joke. A penalty for targeting which never happened is changed to a completely different penalty call? How can you change a call via review?

the call was for an illegal hit, the review was to see if the illegal hit was targeting or not. No conspiracy.

I've seen that several times this year where targeting is all or nothing.

Was it announced as an illegal hit? Or was it announced after the review said it wasn't targeting?

I'm in a bar without sound.

This. It was a penalty for targeting and if replay shows it didn't happen, not sure how you can call another penalty instead.
