EMU will be one of the West teams that Ohio plays, and it's at home. Will this be the year Ohio finally plays at Toledo?

It HAS to be right?

via Twitter....Blade reporter says BG MAC West opponents are EMU, NIU & UT

If I had to guess...I'd say vs. EMU, at Ball State and at Toledo......then vs. BG, at Miami, at Kent, vs. Akron & vs. Buffalo

vs. EMU - W
at Ball - W (??? - swing game)
at Toledo - L
vs. BG - W (???? - swing game)
at Miami - W (??? - swing game)
at Kent - W
vs. Akron - W
vs. Buffalo - W

4-4 at worst (I'd hope)
6-2 at best
7-1 would be helluva season.....just not sure I'm sold then can do that yet

My thought is no it won't be only because we never get sent there. We keep waiting year after year. It's coming up on a decade since the last trip to the Glass Bowl.

So far EMU and BG have released their opponents. Ohio will host both of them.

Ever since I moved up here 4 years ago I have been waiting to see Ohio at the Glass Bowl. It has to be this year, right?

I don't understand the desire to play AT the Glass Bowl. Seems like a sure fire loss to me.

Screw that man, I want to play Toledo in Toledo. Ohio hasn't played there in almost a decade and they are a conference opponent. I'm tired of Ohio missing Toledo on the schedule year after year after year. As for a sure fire loss, I totally disagree. A lot of people thought the same thing about the game at NIU this year and look how that turned out. Ohio will be very solid next year and Toledo will be a little down. I look forward to this game very much. Thank you MAC for finallly making it happen.

Ohio is always going to play Toledo less often than any of the other West opponents. That's because Toledo has an arrangement to play BG every year, which means they play each of the other East foes less often.

Yes, they do play BG every year, but UT still have two other crossover games against East schools which means Ohio still should roll onto their schedule every few years. A decade should never go by without playing in any conference venue no matter what division or protected crossover. Hopefully Toledo will be making a return to Athens in 2017.

It's been a little longer than usual. If you think about it, with seven in the East as there has been, there's only been two crossover games each year. That means Ohio would play, on average, each team in the West every three years and it would be every six years, on average, that Ohio would be at Toledo. It will be a nine-year break here. Toledo should be on the schedule more frequently now with UMass out, but that every-year arrangement with BG limits it some.

I read somewhere that Miami and Ball State are now annual crossover opponents to smooth out crossover scheduling. For Ball State and Toledo they would have 2 openings a year to play the other 5 MAC East schools. That means at least once every 3 years Ohio should be on their schedules and once every 6 years should play at Ball State and Toledo on the road.

Does this mean in 2017 we will likely get Toledo at home? We had NIU at home in 2014 and then on the road in 2015. To me this OOC scheduling is kind of like a black box. You don't know exactly what will be spit out, even if you know what goes into it.

That's even before my time. In 1959, I would have been a sophomore in high school. That's even before Hector was a pup. ;-)

As I recall we were a muffed punt away from a victory at the Glass Bowl the last time we were there. It's time to get that victory. Go OHIO!

Interesting, I hadn't heard about that. But it makes sense with their proximity and could build into a rivalry of sorts.

In 1967, Coach Hess won at Toledo 20-14. I just hate being right 😎

Ohio has lost 12 in a row to Toledo and has dropped 15 of the last 16 meetings. I had no idea it's been that tilted, but it also adds a lot of extra motivation.

Extra motivation for whom? The players and their will to win or Monroe and his crusade v. current coaching staff?

That actually comports with my memory better. I was an undergraduate that year. The bigger they are the harder they fall!
