Per Don's Best, several players have been upgraded to probable:
QB: Sprague
RB: White, Irons, D. Brown, Patterson
S: Macer, Cunningham

Others on the report
Out for the season: Lowery, Nelson, Mangen
Expected to Miss: Bass
Doubtful: C. Brown, Carpenter, Scipio
Questionable: Heitzman, Smart, McCray, Anderson

http://www.donbest.com/ncaaf/injuries /

It looks like QB and RB will be back to full strength, and Safety will get a little help. Of those on the Questionable list, Heitzman is a key guy, and will be missed if he can't play.

Per Arkley's twitter, we can further update the injuries:
Out: Lowery, Nelson, Mangen, Bass, Carpenter, McCray

He says everyone else most likely will play

He also says that Ohio looks refreshed, and that he expects a good effort against App St. I don't know how App State will play, but I think Ohio is going to play very, very well. I expect a very good, well played game by both teams.

I'm also looking forward to watching the App State offense at work. It's similar enough to Ohio's that there is nothing they run that Ohio couldn't run, too. Maybe Ohio will pick up some ideas from this game for some new wrinkles to add to their offense to boost the running attack next year.

App State trying to one up us at our own game?

C'mon Bobcat Sports!

Since Evan Shaw left the athletics department for WOUB, we have not really done the "pump up" videos. I wish they would return!

I think Shaw's replacement, Tanner Smith, is gone now also.
in fairness to our squad, this is App's first video for the bowl, posted 12/14 and is 1:29 long. Bobcat TV has posted 3 videos regarding the bowl, a 1:31 preview video on 12/7, a 14:33 video of the bowl press conference on 12/8, and a 4:02 anticipation video on 12/11.

I do appreciate what BobcatTV puts out. I was just saying that I do miss the motivational videos they used to do for each game like this one -

I've said this in a previous post...but Ohio Athletics misses Evan Shaw's work more than I think it's realized. Those videos were an amazing way for this program to market themselves on social media where kids live these days. Any kid watching those videos that was considering OHIO....it had to sway their opinion. It gave OHIO a "big-program" feel to it.

So much is made of playing game on TV....but those shows that Evan produced (Relentless & Attack U for hoops) were equally, if not more, important than games on TV. Every team plays on TV nowadays...but to have a 30-minute Hard-Knocks-type show about OHIO was extremely valuable.

It gave OHIO a leg up on the rest of the MAC schools and on a lot of the other mid-majors in the country.

That kind of exposure is priceless. The fact that we don't even have a Frank Solich coaches show or any kind of Ohio football or basketball wrap-up show available anywhere but WOUB is sad. No knock on them, but I think the athletic dept with the help of WOUB could produce a half-hour Ohio football show that could air on TWC SportsChannel or STO or FS-Ohio.

I think it's just a blown opportunity to continue to market and grow the program and get it more exposure.

Even horrible Akron has a Bowden Coaches Show on TV and a Zips Basketball show with Dambrot on DirecTV.

FS-Ohio and STO are both available on DirecTV....that's nationwide exposure to get those shows on there.

We have one of the best journalism schools in the country...why they can't partner with athletic dept and deliver a quality 30-minute show that can be delivered to show on-air across the state (and country via satellite TV) is beyond me? Seems like a gaping hole in their marketing plan.

Not sure why you refer to Akron as horrible. They're not. If you're labeling them as horrible because they're a rival and you don't like them, OK, I get it. But as a program, they're not horrible.

I suspect the reason is "want to." I don't get the feeling the academic halls are in any hurry to work with athletics. I could be wrong.

Substitute "bankrupt" for"horrible" and I think he's dead on. Ohio lost a lot when Evan moved on.

As far as "horrible" Akron...I guess I meant their athletic dept and fan support is horrible compared to Ohio. Their success on the court (soccer too) cannot be argued, but I have a hard time placing them in same category as Ohio otherwise.

And as far as "want to"....I am saying that the athletic dept could use staffing in place (i.e. Russ and video guys they already have) and partner with WOUB staffers/studio to produce a quality show. It's a great chance to market the athletics (football & basketball mainly) and give students a hands-on opportunity.

Seems much better than running the same old ad during espn3 broadcasts.

I don't think it's a stretch for something like this to happen. Just seems like we've regressed in that arena since Evan left and that's a shame. No one can duplicate what he did, but it seems like we're not even trying to fill a valuable void.

I agree on this. I've always thought OU communications/journalism would be well-served to use the athletics dept as a training opportunity for publicity. That they don't do it is puzzling. I'm speculating it's tied to a general animosity toward athletics, but again, I could be way off.

And that Bobcats are just happy being Bobcats.

BG's running a spot in the Columbus area that is really well done and probably makes parents want to send their kid there, until, of course, they actually set foot on campus.

This was my point regarding "bankrupt" Akron. They just laid off a lot of people for financial reasons. If they can still produce a coach's show, it can't be that expense is the impediment.

Not at all. I know I'm an outsider, but I can't imagine it would be that much added work.

You sit down coach for a few minutes with a camera.

Throw in some highlights (that are already shot and edited for the YouTube/BobcatTV clips)....toss in some radio/audio over them....

Maybe throw in a feature story that a WOUB student could produce.....and VOILA! ....you have a 30-minute show.

Send it out to the networks......force them to run a few OU spots during commercial breaks...allow them to sell the rest of the ad space/time....

Doesn't seem like rocket science. Pretty easy way to market your program and generate exposure on a platform that we currently don't reach.

I'm not saying you'll get 1M viewers for the Frank Solich show.....or the Saul Phillips Show....but I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt for a recruit on DirecTV to tune in and see some OU coverage/highlights.....or for folks in the state to stumble across it.

Not to mention continue to build their fan base. I know if a show like this was offered, I'd watch each week.

I LOVED Relentless and Attack U.....I read Arkley's stuff all the time....I can't get enough Bobcat coverage.....just a shame there isn't more provided.....and I'm just left scratching my head, why? (When we have a world-class journalism program and very capable people working in our athletic dept....and we see folks like bankrupt Akron pull it off)

I believe that this is a good idea. I don't think the journalism school has any institutionalized animosity toward athletics. If someone in the AD's office approached whoever now heads the broadcast journalism sequence, I'll bet you anything that this could be worked out. Pay a few students minimum wage for an internship experience, and this could get done. The initiative, though, needs to come from the AD's office. That's where to put on the old BA pressure.

Any media/commercial should be about/feature what's unique about OHIO.

Any media which says stuff that any other school could claim/state is not good media.

There was a very nicely done show on WOUB and Fox Ohio back when Miss Allie Teen Ohio was the correspondent. Maybe it was her vehicle but it was of high quality and consistently well done. Frank appeared in person for interviews on each segment along with some players. Seeing it, I was just happy being a Bobcat.

I would like to see a NEW compelling commercial during the game that sells our great university. I am tired of that "Bobcats just want to be Bobcats" commercial.
Now lets win the game and prove to Vegas that they were wrong in the handicapping of this game.

I was just going to mention this. Wasn't it called Bobcat Blitz? I don't know how widespread it was on television, but it was available on-demand online. Allie hosted it one year. I believe Caleb Troop did another year. It was very good. They would recap the previous game and preview the next one with coach and they usually brought on one player for an interview.

I have been spending some time these past few days looking at different sites and reading their respective pregame reports. It is quite apparent that Ohio is not getting any LOVE or RESPECT for the media.
In addition I really don't see the same number of reports even coming from our own university. There was 1 report from Russ and that has been it. I recall that is years past the players would write a daily blog of sorts informing us of what is going on.
Am I the only one that feels there is not sufficient hype, excitement, or reporting on this game? Things just seem too low key.

It is surprising when Ohio has a HC that has won 80 games and 7 straight bowl eligible seasons. If anyone Frank at the G5 level is running a program that develops players into successful athletes.

Welcome to south Alabama. I hope everyone has a safe trip and a great time while in Montgomery. My wife and I are the Bobcats living in Mobile, so we'll be driving up tomorrow to enjoy all of the pre-game festivities and then root the Cats on to a bowl game victory. And, of course, we'll very much enjoy seeing the 110 perform live - something we haven't been able to see for a number of years now since moving south.

Unfortunately, the weather won't be the best, but could be worse. We have had incredibly great warm weather here the past 10 days or so. It would have been perfect for the game if it were played last weekend. But as luck would have it, both Friday and Saturday will have pretty chilly temperatures, the coldest two days for quite awhile, then warm right back up on Sunday. The good news is that it doesn't look like there is any rain in the forecast.

Be prepared for the long haul at the game. We attended last year's inaugural Camellia Bowl game with South Alabama playing in it against BG. The game lasted just a few minutes short of 4 hours. With ESPN running the show, there were a gazillion TV time outs. It seemed like there were never more than two consecutive plays run without yet another stoppage for a time out.

The Crampton Bowl stadium is an old stadium but has been renovated nicely and has a modern, huge scoreboard. A nice venue for the game. For us old-timers, this is the place where they played the Blue-Gray College All-Star Game on Christmas Day for many years.

Thanks for that info. I remember that game well. I believe we had some OHIO players who played in it a time or two. This game went the way of Confederate Battle Flags at Ole Miss games. I think we are a better nation that both are now history.

Hopefully it won't be quite that long. BG throws the ball a lot, which leads to a lot of clock stoppages, and a long game. Both Ohio and especially App State will run the ball a lot, which will keep the clock running.
